As cute as this is, I didn't like what Amai did there calling him a gambling-addicted alcoholic (quote: 噂だとギャンブル中毒のアル中らしいわ). Hmm...

By the way, this comes from the Matogrosso website here (it got overwritten by the newest chapter, not sure if that was intentional on their part), so if you can't wait for my crap cleaning/translation/typesetting (in that order), feel free to look there instead.

if her lies sound convincing it's his fault for not taking care of his appearance... he's an old man dating a high school girl yet he didn't make any effort at all... he smokes, he keeps his necktie loose, his hair and clothes always look so messy like he's the type who didn't bother to shower before going to work... compare him to the other male teacher who is more popular, neat and stylish...

@ojoudere I honestly probably seem like that to people I meet too (the whole dull and sarcastic and not knowing what I'm thinking line resonate with me, and I'm not too well dressed either.... and forget the good looking part) but what doesn't sit well with me is her talking bad about him behind his back while also supposedly being in love with him. Though I guess having read (and scanlated this far) doesn't give me a right to speak in that regard.

It's good that Amai nipped any supposed crush Maria would've had for Sensei in the bud, even if said crush was more in her head. It's bad enough that Maria already has one crush that'll remain one-sided. Why even entertain the notion of her having another unrequited infatuation?

In all seriousness though, there's no point to this subplot of Maria developing a crush on Amai. It's not like Amai will dump Sensei and start going out with Maria. If this side plot gets any sort of resolution, it'll either be in the form of melodramatic filler Amai rejecting Maria or Maria deciding that her crush will remain a secret. The later option would in turn make Maria's crush truly pointless.

Is it just me or does Amai seem borderline Yandere? Like she is definitely not psycho, twisted love crazy, but still just a little bit obsessive over Sensei.

Whilst I understand you concerns, I’d don’t think Maria’s embarrassment is outright a sign of a crush being developed, the whole Arc between the two seems to be two people who are usually alone finally having someone they can call a friend. Though I wouldn’t say they truly trust each other considering Amai just preferred to make her boyfriend out to be a raging alcoholic rather than appreciate that someone else acknowledged his charms. Though a bit of harmless Yuri is also pretty cute.
So if there is gonna be any drama between the two, it’ll be more about trust than outright intimacy.

I agree with @Gustbk
Maria doesn't have a crush on Amai lol it's part of her character: reserved hairstyle, glasses, comes from an overly protective and excited family who are all big eaters, etc. She has just never shared food or her utensils with anyone besides her family before, and thus didn't know how to act/react.
My family is the same. I was taught to never share a drink with strangers unless it's via a clean cup. So the first time my friend took a sip out of my water bottle I was flustered and awkward. I didn't know what to say. Should I tell her to never do it again? IDK.
I got used to it, though. And only close friends do it anyway.

Also, Yayoi was being possessive over sensei again haha, this time even worse than the previous methods. She called him an alcoholic gambling addict lmao. Knowing Maria, the rumors won't spread at all, but still. I guess that's gonna affect how she perceives people from then on. I mean, if the kind and compassionate Shiota sensei can be that bad then you can never know for sure who people are.

Well, we are talking about the girl who wanted to tear her boyfriend's hair out and make him fat just so he won't catch the eye of anyone else in school in one of the early chapters. It's definitely a part of Amai that is incredibly childish (if somewhat amusing).
