I assume that, yes, it turned him into an undead, but that it only removed his need for food and drinks while making his defence even worse. Not to mention being able to, uhm, socialize and create offspring.Then again, the whole "turned into a skeleton" thingy feels somewhat pointless as he can simply hide it with magic. In fact, leaving the optics aside, did turning into a skeleton make him invincible(aka, is his body actually undead or does it just look the part)
