I feel like this series is losing focus. I liked it more when it was less "serious" and more about the relationship of the two MCs, with a little bit of cosplaying.

I don't think it's losing focus, quite the contrary. There's a huge focus on Gojou's development, and it's definitely leading to a point where Gojou will eventually think himself worthy of Marin. His perceived-worthiness definitely increased since chapter 1, but there's still a huge step to be taken there and this arc is, in my personal view, probably the best way to increase his self-confidence (it'll top the School Festival arc I think). Let's be patient, let Fukuda-san cook, she's definitely going to offer us a beautiful moment soon.

I don't think it's losing focus, quite the contrary. There's a huge focus on Gojou's development, and it's definitely leading to a point where Gojou will eventually think himself worthy of Marin. His perceived-worthiness definitely increased since chapter 1, but there's still a huge step to be taken there and this arc is, in my personal view, probably the best way to increase his self-confidence (it'll top the School Festival arc I think). I think what the other poster might be getting at (and it's what I notice) is that in the beginning it used to be about Marin and Gojou interacting with the cosplay as a background/inciting element. Now it's about the intricacies and details of the cosplay and also sometimes Marin and Gojou interact around us being shown that.

It feels somewhat like the author wasn't super familiar with cosplay at the beginning of writing the story, but as they did more research they fell down the rabbit hole and got so interested that the focus shifted from using the research to help tell the characters' story to "OMG Isn't all this stuff I learned super cool and interesting and don't you just want to hear about it more for the next 20 pages? And oh yeah, I guess both characters are in the same room for some of it."

If it's not the focus being consumed/cannibalized by the cosplay stuff, then it's the standard issue ongoing serialized story hitch of "you have to keep stalling things because if we get any sort of romantic resolution the story is dead!" nonsense that writers tend to believe in (Shipping Bed Death or Moonlighting Syndrome or whatever you want to call it)

Yeah I agree, there's been a huuuuge and sudden shift in the amount of minute details behind the cosplay methods and various lifehacks.

That being said though. I am definitely loving the shift in art style whenever the source material they're cosplaying is shown. Not just for this arc, but for all of the others. The one about the Succubus and the mangaka (or light novelist?) comes to mind, probably because it was referenced this chapter lol but even moreso with this arc. The art style is such a sudden and abrupt difference that it's almost jarring in a good way especially when they're juxtaposed between quoting or showing panels of the source manga and then using it to flow with the manga's "real world".

Though I will say, it is actually funny how edgy they made Gojo drinking energy drinks as if he's finally succumbed to vices when it's more like he's finally reached the point of a professional mangaka or Japanese worker, creative, office, or otherwise, when faced with a crushing deadline and a lot of work left on the table lol
