...I miss Null Poison. Like, really, it was this but actually GOOD. No isekai, since it doesn't matter. Rather than an instant powerup from the first thing he eats, he hast to research different poisonous plants to see which ones are basically steroids and learn how to cultivate them. Journeying to find mythical fruits that could grant new powers/skills at the expense of killing you horribly soon after. Actually, relevant party members with their own development. Most of all, an actual journey with a real goal/the specifically defined endgame of killing his op brother.

O . o

OK I get the whole I've hid my power from the abusive family vibe, but seriously wouldn't it have been easier to bypass that all and just have the family purchase plant based mana beasts?

Hells, a trip to the apothecary would have been a huge power up. It's amazing the family didn't force this in their attempts to make use of the MC.

Rather then all the neglect and abuse, you just take over the family and claim your elf waifu while out hunting rather then forcing event where the overpowered plant spirit gets spanked by the "weak" protagonist.

Someone should find the fucktards who cultivated the whole manga logic movement and beat them with leaks and carp.
The summary says that the family never let him try it, they looked at the title and nothing else then banished him.

The sperm donor was already set against him, and looking for an excuse to get rid of him. The "capable" sons could even be just golden child syndrome.

So, before it was appraised or whatever, it was never active? or, does it have to be raw plants or something? the fact everything was boosting his status and not just the powerful monster / so-called-spirit, he should have been a god around his house; they said he was doing swordsmanship and stuff, so it should have been reflected it he had any buffs already.
They never tested it.

You need to test these unknown skills to see their limits, and most of these series the parents never test and just make assumptions. I have seen 1 series where any skill not known is considered a loss and anyone with them treated as 2nd class citizens. The MC there was publicly disowner like 10 mins after getting his skill. Rather then experiment they just cast out anyone with an unknown skill.

Though there are series where they treat unknown skills properly.

Which is kinda counterintuitive to their actions. His childhood was full of training in etiquette and managing the house as hier. So even if they had planned to throw him away, feeding him a bunch of poisonous plants sounds right up their alley.

The art is very rough, like in page 7, the second son has to be like 15 feet tall, it wouldn't be a problem if the writing was good, but, well :nyoron:

"Just go and touch grass over there," was what Aki, a reincarnated person, was told

Notice the comment about how they were going to cover up his exile by saying there was an accident.

There is likely rules and customs that meant they could not just off him, The sperm donor was waiting for his skill to marry him off. Now he sees no chance of that so out the door.

That's the point. If it went sideways, it would just be seen as an accident while trying to maximize his skill. So procuring poisonous and or other toxic plants wouldn't be all that unreasonable. OTOH forcing him to eat the weeds out of the garden just seems like pointless abuse, unless they were commonly used in assassination.

And it make even less sense to completely ruin a relationship with some you intend to marry off to an ally or subordinate. Disinterest, or even a cold demeanor shouldn't be much of an issue, but creating and then sending potential seed of discontent out into the world is just a truely stupid ideology.

Yes I understand this doesn't stop idiots from acting like complete and utter douche canoes, nor dissagrees with any of the real life examples you could no doubt Google up if you really tried. But that doesn't stop it from being terminally moronic for a noble to poison their relationships as portrayed in this and similar manga. It weakens not only their own power base, but could spark conflict between otherwise friendly noble houses.

The don't see it as poisoning any relationships though. He is assumed to be dead even if he can eat the monsters will kill him, and never had a fiance. also for some reason (and I hope it becomes relevant seeing the disdain the sperm donor shows when he brings it up) his mother was a commoner so likely no maternal family ties to complain either.

Then what is the point in training him to take over the family? Or even as someone to be shuffled off as a marriage partner? He can't be more then a few year older then his half brothers, so there really was no reason for the pretense to begin with.

As soon as they're done investigating his skills usefulness, he would have been disposed of under the same circumstances. No need for petty tyranny, just have the dirty jobs servant kidnap him out of his bed one night, take the useless twit out into the forest, drop him in front of a monster to be mauled, and recover the corpse later after searching for the missing child.

This way there is no history of petty abuse that would surface if there was an investigation, no visible disdain or disgust over a bastard child with a weak skill inheriting the the family name. None would see his brothers heckling a family member as he was exiled from the house. Just a tragic accident when a naive boy snuck out into the forest to train his skill and was killed by wild beasts.

Because if he got a good skill he could be married off.

These things are always bound by norms and customs that do not apply outside nobility, often not outside the nobility of their world.

You can not just disinherit the child of your wife for no reason, and them disappearing tend sot lead to rumors and gossip that are the bane of a respectful appearance.

These people are always obsessed with appearances, and until the balance swings they will take the action that looks better for the social standing.

He already thinks the MC is useless and defective, only good as a potential marriage for connections, the skill name was just further proof in his mind and removed the last potential use, so why bother.

So you're telling me that bro never ate a plant in his life.

Just one piece could have made a dramatic difference.

It would have also been something if MC also hated vegetables. 🤣
