I don't know about the quality of translation but it mentioned something about "this world" so maybe it's not strictly chronological in Earth's timeline. The Great Sphinx seriously predates classical Greece and Rome in any case.

it could be that they’re meant to bronze age proto-greeks (Mycenaeans, I think they would be?), as the ancient Egyptians would sometimes hire them cuz they were really good artists

He didn't build the Sphinx but "a sphinx", "something sphinxy", the Sphinx already existed, they refer to it. Though it still doesn't match the timeline of it being after witch hunts, lol... so my guess is that the lives don't have to be in chronological order somehow.
