Pretty much feels like everyone that has trouble are people that skim instead of read, because it was perfectly understandable.

Aristocracy is not a bad idea because people in their teens have to make serious decisions; that's like saying modern society is a bad idea because we make people take schooling until they come of age. Both are flawed systems, but those issues derive from elsewhere in their systems.
i don't think "making a kid stay in school to learn trigonometry or some shit til they're 18 when they'd rather be a plumber" and "having a 14 year old make military decisions simply because their dad was the king" are all that comparable tbh

Forcing kids to stay in the sociopolitical hellscape that is school, telling them they need to learn so many different things that have no bearing on what they actually need to know (or are even capable of learning) and often are half-assed because it's all spread so thin, during the period of time in which their bodies are growing and hormones are raging, and they need to be able to burn off all that excess energy but are forced to sit quietly in regimented rows or get dosed with opiates, demanding they learn how to be adults while never giving them any sort of responsibility to learn HOW to be responsible until suddenly they're cut loose in the world? Yeah, it is most definitely comparable to the scenario you spin of oligarchy, wherein nepotism was/is rampant, unlike aristocracy where hereditary rule is only acceptable if they remain the best of men (not males, men) for the position (as that is what aristocracy is; "rule of the best"; though especially in these past few decades it often gets twisted into just being an epithet towards shitty nobility), which is closer to what seems to actually be the case in this world.

Actually, thinking about it, you're right. Someone who has grown up with military training and formal learning to that bent through their childhood being put in charge of what is meant to be a minor military excursion for learning basic responsibility for their standing is not comparable, because that's actually more sane.

You didn't find such a one, and if that's what you actually got from what I said, then you failed your reading comprehension lessons (not that that's surprising, given the state of contemporary era schools, as I have already waxed more than sufficiently on).

What can I say? My school experience was very different.
I guess it's not surprising, since we probably grew up in very different countries. And possibly in different time periods too, although it sounds like we're of similar age.

Assuming she took her studies seriously, she should be similar to our world's junior lieutenant, fresh from the academy. Not entirely useless, but still a threat to her own life and the lives of her soldiers.

This is an assumption being made that needs correction: I'm referring to at least the North American school system in general, and any similar system that acts as a daycare for kids while the parents go to work and ignore their kids' suffering, where the teachers run classes at least 5 times the size they should be, are paid too little, can't correct bad behaviours and because of that everyone else suffers, until it eventually results in the situations I noted above, as the years pass and the grade increases, as kids form social connections that become cliques where they vie for intra-group dominance and no adult steps in to stop the very real pain and torture inflicted; Mean Girls was basically a documentary, in that respect. My personal experience with the school system has no bearing on the viewpoint I have with all the problems it has, that are easily visible from the outside.

Close enough, yes. Thus the entire purpose of having her first excursion with an old veteran and his elite squad along with her own royal guard (who may be less competent and untested but are still far better trained and equipped than a standard soldier) for what was supposed to be a minor excursion to gain experience in the seat of command. The fact that she was thinking of her soldier's lives first and foremost, not her own honor and prestige, makes her good material for the role, even if she needs some work on un-crushing the little self-esteem she has, given how thoroughly ground down it has been by the Queen and those around her (though thankfully not her sister or cousin in any direct manner from them themselves, given the interaction they had, though it seems to be alluded to by others, likely as part of the first princess' or the 3rd in line's faction, that they have problems with her).

No wonder the arts turns sketchy. And if you check the official raw link on the main page there's 3 name there.

"柳瀬こたつ/道造/めろん22".

This really is kinda sad. But ill keep reading if this will get better

edit: Nvm its just the LN artist. Do ignore this post
So they went from one hentai artist to another? And on top of that it's Melon22? That explains some things.
The 3 names always been listed there, like they always do with adaptations, めろん22 or Melon22 is the LN illustrator usually credited as character design/キャラクター原案 (as seen in the cover or pages where chapter number is listed), at least search up stuff lmao, 道造/Michizou being the author
I see! So the character designer is melon22. No wonder the artstyle feels so familiar, especially Queen Lisenlotte in the first chapter, and how Zabine is literally Barghest but with less self control. At first I was like, "hmm, I feel like I've seen this somewhere before..." and looked up Yanase Kotatsu since he's credited as the artist, but everything that came up didn't clicked any of my gears, and that just confused me even more.

Valeria's eyelashes also strongly reminds me of Asanagi's style, which didn't help matters at all.

I don't know if the artist burned out after 5 chapter of above average quality or wanted to be rougher in this one for it being heavy, I hope is the latter and the artstyle recovers later.
Sadly is not uncommon for manga or anime to have super high quality chapters at the start and then a drop in quality, even more in recent years.
It's not just manga. It's comics in general. And there's a good reason for it. Artists and editors often get/take a lot of time to develop and polish the opening chapters before serialization starts. But as the series goes on, that cushion dissolves. So you only get to see what the author is really capable of month-to-month (or week-to-week) somewhere around volume two.

And this chapter, at 43 pages, is much longer than what came before. Even chapter 1 (typically an extra-long art showcase) was shorter. Therefore, without a break in the publication schedule, a drop in finish quality was almost inevitable. But the art isn't actually worse. It's just less polished. I thought it worked quite well for a chapter that was all dialogue anyway.

Would you rather die a coward, or die fighting? Either way, you'll die so might as well choose how.
Polidoro for having such a big dong and a mighty sword, he is pretty wimpy in the head.

100% sure Zabine Polidoro materials are already made by fans.

It's kind of shocking how the ecchi and isekai elements melted away. This is just a fun sword-n-shield story to me now.
