Idk if she is fully trans iirc. Hina was just a normal boy, save for having a fairly effeminate body. But because he experienced a lot of gender based issues because of it, I think his self esteem took it to heart. Thinking that if he was just born a girl, or didn't as much look like one, would make his life easier. Not that he was literally born the wrong gender.

Im not an expert on the subject, but I think that is the difference that matters. Basically the difference between MC and Aki. One felt like they were meant to be the other gender, and one had to live with being mistaken for, joked at, etc... about looking like the other gender to the point they themselves agreed that it would have been better.

Not having read ahead on this series, my prediction/theory for how the virus fully works is that it makes you whatever sex you believe the person you are in deeply love with would prefer you to be. This would explain Yurina's lack of a transformation, as well as Mikoto's de-transformation, as both of them are in love with Hina, who they believe would prefer them to be female (well, I don't know if this is the case for Yurina for sure, but I would think so).

And then, if the above condition is not met, you are simply genderbent as a fail-state. I don't know if there are any counterexamples to my hypothesis, but I believe that that's the most likely explanation at this point.

It literally IS just "I want to be x gender", rather than it having more to do with someone they fell in love with. Yurina not transforming was due to the lack wanting to be a male. Eventually, like the title says, it'll go pandemic and EVERYONE becomes a genderbender. A godsend for those who feel like they were born in the wrong gender, and a source of lulz for those curious to what it's like to be of the opposite gender.

@JavelinJoe hmmm. I might be able to shed a little light here. I'm trans myself, and Hina does not fit the standard of a boy with GID (gender identity disorder). If anything, I feel more like Hina is somehow a... 'reverse-trans'. Not that that makes much sense, since that'd make him a cis? Or, possibly, he's more similar to a post-treatment intersex at this point I guess. Basically I get the impression that Hina is deadcenter on the gender spectrum, and is currently so outwardly female because of their environment influencing them so heavily.

Typically, a kid with GID will live with great emotional and physical pain brought on by their sex not matching their gender, often venting their frustration with either self harm, apathy, or 'over compensating' (such as a male with a female gender doing body building to convince themself that there's no problem when infact there is). Hina exhibits the opposite of this, so Hina never really seemed to have GID in the first place. Instead, the initial Hina is "so genderfluid it hurts" or something nonsensical like that. I dunno, I'm not a trap.

Aki on the other hand, DOES exhibit symtoms of GID, as does Yuuri and Myaakowhatshername. Goriyama was just so happy not to be ugly anymore and took whatever he could get.

Honestly, if I'm right, I kind of predict Hina to end up as a futanari at this point lol.

This doesn't make sense. Prez declared herself a lesbian at the start of the manga. She was quit comfortable being a women and still having a relationship with another woman. Why would the virus turn her into a man than? Are they basically saying yuri does not exist? What a load of bs
