Huh, different translator, is this a snipe? Or was there permission from them already?

Welp, thanks for the translation! Even if Pg10 was left untranslated when I read it lol
Its another snipe. LazyReader said on the last one they'd release it in 2 months so that its a full chapter a not a half chapter, which this one is, so its not labeled properly.

Reupload. Same person from the previous release. Also, "snipe" no, sod off with that crap. Multiple groups/people can provide ther own takes. If someone only is doing this for the chance to make money from donations, they can take a hike (different from someone doing this for fun and also asking for donations to help make their life easier; the former is someone like ComicDom, the latter like Schale Scans).

Sorry for the untranslated page! I noticed like 10 mins after uploading it that I didn't put the translation layer on top 🫠, it should already be fixed.

And idk what a snipe is, but this is my own translation, I just did it on a whim bc I had access to the raws, and since I was gonna translate it for myself anyways, why not give it some more time and share it on here.

Aaanyways, sorry for the pg10 incident, and thank you for reading!

In the raws does he call partner "he"? Partner is female, it should say "she"

The kanjis used to refer to the other head are 相方, which translates to "partner", genderless.
I should've probably used "it" instead, and since I haven't checked the other raws, I don't know if the MC calls the other head by 彼 ("kare") or 彼女 ("kanojo").
I guess my own head completed it to "him" while translating, I'll take notes on that for next times.

Again, idk what a snipe is, by context I'm guessing it's something along the lines of "translating a title that another group is already translating or claimed to be translating".

It's my first time translating, and I did so because I wanted to share my own translation with the rest of the world.
I don't know if there's a "social etiquette" regarding translations, I just paint over the raws and write what I think is the correct translation.
In fact, I watched the other groups translations to somehow match the characters' energies and personalities, and also used a pixelated font for the [Voice of God] texts, since I don't want the readers to have one of those "change of translation shock" where the style is completely different (different fonts, not translating author hand-written notes, overall not respecting text bubble spacing and allat).

I just wanted it to be the best I could do.

Regarding the chapter number, it's true, it's "part 1", I will fix it right now.

Also, if the actual group that is translating this wants me to drop it and not upload translations (at least in english), I'll gladly do so, but I will say that I belong to Amariithynar's side of the internet, and I believe that the more translations, the more a reader will get an accurate representation of the original work.

Edit:Oops somehow managed to accidentally send this before writing the message, sorry! The edit is here because this is when I made that mistake!

So mind I'm only a reader, not a scanlator myself, but "snipe" is an... imprecise term. In the most general sense it's just someone uploading a translation of a chapter of a series another individual/group is already doing or has claimed as a series they are doing, usually before the existing individual/group puts out their version.

There's also connotations to it - like "snipes" are often called out based on the lower quality (whether that be scan quality, typesetting, translation quality, number of mistakes, etc) that often results from individuals/groups attempting to rush out a scan ahead of anyone else - because the rushing leads to more mistakes and less QA.

I think intent matters to though. It doesn't seem like your intent is to hijack the series from another group that's already doing it. I think this is maybe an unintentional snipe at worst, because the other group did say why they're holding off on their version (apparently)... but eh, scanlating is a wild west thing. Anyone's free to upload their own scanlations, and readers are free to read as many or as few of them as they want. The mistake with missing the translation on Page 10 for a while was unfortunate, but you fixed it now, so nothing wrong here if you ask me

I was thinking the same thing. I've got chapter 46 raws with 1080p height and thought of giving translating a try to see if I'm any good.

(Cleared out the quote cause it'd be way too long)

Sniping a translation, generally speaking, is when another person/group releases a current translation of content that's already being actively translated. As a rule of thumb, it's considered rude, but context dramatically shifts how a snipe is perceived.

First, there's the general principle that if a series of already actively being translated, it doesn't really need someone else also translating what's already being worked on. Unless the new translation offers something more than what's currently being provided by the current one (better translation, uncensored panels, higher-res scans, etc.), folks would generally say the effort of the sniper would be better served translating something else that isn't translated yet, has lost its TL, or has a noticably subpar translation.

If it's done with poorer quality than the current translation, with issues such as unedited machine translations, lack of typesetting, etc., it's taken particularly poorly. Cutting in front of the current scanlator just because you did it "faster", only for it to be slop, is insulting to the reader and the current scanlator.

There can also be the situation where the sniper is trying to advertise/solicit donations via their snipe, where they jump in to translate a chapter or two of a series just to direct readers to their own website/commission page/Patreon/etc., then do no further work on that manga unless paid. While the TL might be equivalent in quality, it's fundamentally scummy behavior.

Then there's also the part where someone coming in and sniping a series causes the original TL to drop the series, which if it's some aforementioned one-off sniper, means nobody's working on it anymore. I blame this mostly on the original TL, though I can understand becoming demoralized and wanting to quit after putting in constant effort on a translation only to see readers go and thank/praise the sniper for giving them some second-rate, machine-translated mess just because they did it "faster".

Those situations above are why, generally speaking, people take an initial poor view of sniping.

However, as mentioned earlier, if the new TL offers an improvement upon the existing one, it's much more positively received, especially when the current TL has some noticable issues that would make readers more than glad to have an alternative. Often this is barely even considered sniping because the effort the new TL is putting in generally far outweighs that of the current one.

Also, if a series has seemingly been abandoned (no scans for several official release periods), someone new stepping in isn't perceived as sniping.

All of which is to say, in this particular case, the reaction here is probably just going to be slight confusion more than anything. You didn't do a worse job than the current TL and you didn't do it for money, so there's no real reason to be upset about it. At the same time, with a current, equivalent translation already being done, there's no real "need" for this second TL to have happened, so there's not much benefit to it happening either.

So if you want to keep going on this series, power to you (though I'd strongly recommend reaching out to the current TL to see if you two can collaborate and have an easier (and possibly faster) time working on the series). If this was just a one-off for fun/experience, fair enough, though I would personally recommend doing that kind of thing on either the first chapter of a series (avoids any concerns with sniping) or on a chapter that has known flaws/issues with its TL (e.g. poor-quality machine translation scanlator sniped a chapter so the regular TL skipped it) or is outright missing.

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk on the social etiquette of conducting translation work on pirated Japanese cartoons. No refunds.
