Speaking as a person who doesn't like teacher/student romance in manga, it's not because I think "student/teacher relationships are bad IRL, and this manga contains a student/teacher relationship, thus the manga is bad", I've read plenty of manga with extremely unhealthy relationships and enjoyed them. It's just because, at a pretty basic level, teacher/student stuff really grosses me out. Our cultural and personal biases don't just influence us at some logical level, they affect how we think and feel at a pretty base level, and you can't just expect people to perceive things completely differently when they are reading fiction versus when they aren't.It is bad if you are treating the story like if it was a real life story and the characters were real people, if you have complaints about the story not making sense in what it presents, that would be ok, but if your complaints are that this relationship is bad just because it would be bad in real life then your complaint fucking sucks.
If you don't have those biases or are able to look past them when consuming fiction, I think that's totally cool. However, I think it's also understandable that if you do find this stuff gross, it can be pretty frustrating for a series which doesn't advertise itself as having any, to suddenly spend multiple chapters focusing on it.
Sorry for the ramble, I just find this sorta discussion interesting.
