Battle underwear gear. We weren't shown Kyou's reaction but he handed it over without a fuss (being shown) or making a sound.
Yamada is gearing up for battle, my boy Kyou better be ready when that time comes, because it seems he's in for a heck of a night. :smug:
Poor guy. He's only armed with a spear.

I love how Ichikawa is just trying to slow down his thirsty girlfriend and be a gentleman. Also probably does not want to be introduced to all of Yamada Papa's knives. His life and virginity are at stake at being able to say no. Its hard when you want to be responsible and your girlfriend is just thinking now would be a good time to have babies.
If she really is thinking that last bit, she needs to realize that will have to wait until they're both legally allowed to marry in about 3 1/2 years. They literally have to graduate high school before that can happen, due to when Kyo's birthday is, and they're still in the middle of their senior year of middle school and 14 years old (though Anna will be 15 as of the birthday referenced).
Ch 102 has her drop the book in the library as she tries to leave quickly, having spotted the two main protagonists being close with each other.
I forgor about that.
I wonder if it's the same book, kinda different covers. But the title is the same 探海
Pretty sure this very chapter has her mention the one she's had was from Kindergarten (probably a children's edition or whatever), with the implication that this is a more grown-up version of the same educational book.
While trying to figure out Yamada through Kyo's very warped lense is fun in its own way, seeing her without the change caused by his presence is always welcome.
Very much underlines that while she's airheaded, she's vigilant for danger and is quick to put up defences (which is shown all the way in ch.1 when she gets stone-faced as soon as she catches Ichikawa's glance, or slightly later, when she purposefully plays dumb to avoid giving info to Paisen). It's just that she can't really control her guard, it's either on or off. With the context of her early growth spurt and modelling job, it's sad, but makes sense.
Uh... Anna going 'stone-faced' as soon as she caught Kyo's glance wasn't 'putting up defenses', though, according to the commentary in the Volume 8 end-of-volume extras (Ch113.3, Pg23). I mean, it kind of was, but not in the same way these actions this chapter were defense mechanisms. It sounded like Anna wasn't trying to scare Kyo away or dissuade him in Ch1, and was trying to use her mom's advice about 'being serious gives a good impression' or something like that, and it backfired spectacularly because she didn't realize that advice was for interacting with professionals in her line of work, not potential male friends or even love interests.

I forget when it was first mentioned about her 'serious face' habit. It has nothing to do with protecting herself from undesirable males, though, and everything to do with her professional work, like I said. Note the commentary there, which is meant to be her recalling her feelings and reactions in the moment back then, and she's excited by Kyo looking at her and she instinctively did the 'serious face' to try and give a good impression, and then Kyo's commentary is basically like, 'yeah, it had the opposite effect, sad to say, dear- you really should stop doing that'.

Ah! I found the first reference to the 'serious face'! It was part of the 'Episode Zero' extra from the end of Volume 7, Ch99.2, Pg35. See? It's meant to be something she does to people she really wants to make a good impression with. I assume she never looked at any of her girl friends like that because they didn't make her feel like she should be serious with them to impress them. Same for most guys that try to approach her that she's not actually interested in. It's not like she ever looked at Nanjou that way, after all, to my knowledge. She just tried to awkwardly deflect him.
