Delayed realizations Hits ya like a brick, dont it?
It's "slime" as in a computer game, where slimes are the weakest opponents.Wow, just comparing him to a slime like that in front of his face.....
The great thing about ichikawa is he's really great when he's not dense. But so stupid when he's dense, feels really realistic like you've just said. I can't say I've read a manga that has an MC like him (granted I've read A LOT of romcoms but most of them are shitty and new so maybe I just didn't find a similar one)The way he has a hard time realizing what is going on is so realistic. It doesn't feel like a regular dense MC, but a legit dense person. Great writing
Rem is superior.Bit slow on the uptake lol
And Yamada was clearly staring daggers at him bc he's into Rem and not Emilia
Some people need to realize just because you read one of those happy-go-lucky manga doesn't give them the ability to know if someone likes them or notThe way he has a hard time realizing what is going on is so realistic. He's not dense, it's just that he's well aware of his place: an unattractive guy which is considered creepy and dull by almost everyone. So instead of thinking she's into him he would just brush it off...
I've been there too, no matter how obvious a girl makes it, I would tell myself that she's not that into me and i'm just being delusional...
The only difference here is that I might be delusional after all, while its a fact that Yamada is fucking head over heels for him lol
It's not being dense, it's the "they are just being nice, can't possibly be anything more than that" mentality that is very hard to ignore. Especially for someone who has never - from their perspective - received positive attention from opposite sex.

I think that the very first thought from Ichikawa about Yamada asking about LINE – "She's making fun of me...!!" – suggests that it's not his denseness, which is causing the problem, but his insecurities. He just can't imagine a world, in which someone is genuinely interested in becoming closer to him. It takes the whole chapter for Ichikawa to realize Yamada's intentions, because by the end he gets some evidence and starts putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Some people need to realize just because you read one of those happy-go-lucky manga doesn't give them the ability to know if someone likes them or not
Behavior of Yamada in the first chapter actually has an interesting explanation in "Vol.7 Special Edition Extra - Episode Zero" (chapter 99.2 on MangaDex).I remember how I got annoyed by Yamada in the first chapter.
It's amazing how the author managed to do a 180 with my opinions.
