Thanks for the TL, was just rereading this gem of a manga and when reading this chapter I was surprised since I didn't remember anything about it.
Well, how could I if it was uploaded 2 hours ago lol

Interesting lore drop in a throw-away line. What's interesting is that there's an establishment that particularly caters to orphans; it's usually unheard of for orphans to experience some form of social mobility. Royal guards are stationed to protect the settlement, stated to deter slave traders. However, right before such an altruistic line, Allie mentions that it's for orphans who are born to warriors. Perhaps they could come from common soldiers, or the last-standing members of a fallen noble house (less likely, assuming that all their wealth was tied to their estates and was thereby seized/burned). I think it's pertinent to the current background story of the wealth divide. Is the implication that some commoners had will protections (in the case of death through battle), or that even death, nobles will be favored?

Also, I don't think Allie has to worry about marriage. Her family is so large that they can stand together and form any shape under the sun. Allie did mention that she was a lower-ranking noble, so there's less chance of a bloody family feud for inheritance.

They have the children of loyal soldiers in their estate. They will absolutely be taken care of by loyalists, and adopting will be trivial.

Commoners might even purposely get themselves killed for such reliable social mobility for their children.

The only issue is that it's crazy they were allowed to do this without being suspected of raising a rebel army.

Kind of impressed we got lore dumping for the setting/Lapis' past (at least reading between the lines, a bit), along with a bit more fleshing out of Natori, all mixed into a rather simple chapter of conversational dialogue more than anything.

Allie sharing a bed with Diana is a bit of a neon sign of a flag, but I figured that was the ship since the tournament, so it's nice to see it being built up plank by plank here in their little back-and-forths and the looks Allie gives Diana, and Natori's words of Diana.

But Natori's finally stopped running. Unreliable as she is, she finally has someone worth fighting for, and making every effort she would have balked at before - likely because it's for someone outside of herself; and she strikes me as the sort of selfless person who would grind mountains to dust if it helped another, much less someone so important to her.

Thanks for the continued TL work on this series. Looking forward to the intrigue behind Lapis' past and truth that's to come.

News from the RAW.
It's :meguuusad: I need to vent.

Context: By now Natori group learned that the Lapis they know is actually Aurora, the adopted sister.
(there's also implication she's the saintess, but for now sadge part)

Natori went to meet Lapis's father, show him Aurora's magic stone and ask to hear about what happened that fateful day.

The attack that kill Real Lapis on the surface was done by anti-noble group.
But there's clearly some other noble's hand assisting them.

Either way.
Real Lapis and Mom died.
When Dad arrive with help only Aurora was alive, crying for someone to help Lapis.

At the funeral, the priest ask if Dad is sure about not releasing the news about the attack.
Dad counter back with 'and let them know their attack was a great success?'
He then comment that at least Lapis seem to have passed without suffering much.
Then the priest points out there's traces of incomplete healing magic being used.
While it healed the surface wound, it didn't heal the internal injuries, so her real cause of death was blood loss after taking out the dagger that initially stabbed her.
Aurora was nearby, listening, and realized her failed healing magic was why Lapis died.
Dad notice Aurora running away, and caught up with her

He try to console her, and upon noticing she's holding onto Lapis's magic stone, ask for it back.
Aurora refuse, and the magic stone react to her mana, surprising Dad.
Aurora then propose that she will live as Lapis, because she doesn't want Lapis to disappear.
After a moment, Dad hug her and call her Lapis, she call him Dad back.

Back to present. Dad lament how that decision seem to have become something of a curse to her now, and wonder if his decision was the best one.
Natori replies in tears that there's none. After losing someone important, there's no such thing as 'best choice'

Dad tell Natori that there must be a reason Lapis's magic stone summoned her, and ask that Natori give Aurora back her life.

The point was to make it clear that Natori doesn't view Diana romantically and rather treats her like a sister or close friend/oshi. Allie's making a reasonable observation. Natori is just nice; it's always been one sided so there's nothing really to convert or alter. She treats Allie with the same kindness; otherwise, the story is just being consistent.

Whether Diana wants to or not, she'll have to reframe her relationship with Natori eventually and she seems to already know that. The alternative is more heartache, which I could see happening before things settle but a fan of Diana shouldn't want that. Her and Allie have shown great chemistry in much less time.

Natori foursome when, author?!

Jokes aside, with this chapter is clear that the author is pushing the AlliexDiana ship.
