It's trippy seeing scores in the 30s (out of 100 I assume) as "passing grades"... I don't know if this is just for this manga (to make the point that Chidori High is academically, a bottom of the barrel school) or is this really the case in Japanese public schools. But the warm way their teacher treats his students like humans is top-tier.
The stark contrast between the schools is really striking. By comparison Kikyo is an academically top-tier but stuffy school, with dour teachers who prioritize maintaining the school's prestige and history over the growth of the students as people. The way their teacher treats her students like machines is so cold; it's almost soulless and utilitarian.
