Was excited to see someone picking up the series that basically started the Otome Villainess Isekai trend, turns out Diana is actually a doormat with a mean looking face. So this is why most of the Villainess that comes after turns out to be mostly doormats.

@Mpwilson123 It has to do with exposure towards authors and publishers. Most groups do it for fun or to share a story they like, so being told by the ones responsible for writing or publishing the series that they want you to stop doing it isn't what they want.

Scanlation is and has always been a gray area, and there is no monetary gain except exposure for the people behind the works. So when you have the stories shared or trending in the community on social medias the odds of being told to cease and desist goes up by a lot.

Also there’s one group (I fail to remember their name) that had their work posted in Instagram I think and they were hit with legal action so fast they were forced to stop but more than that they even lost their website and were forced to stop all scanlations for other titles. They were completely eradicated with the threat of further legal action hanging over their heads.

Well, having a peep hole over the bed of a concubine in a harem, not exactly used for collecting state secrets is it. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Indeed @Twi
A cease and desist is the light and more common "punishment". Threats of legal actions or DMCA's is the more serious outcome.
You often see this in the novel community where if groups don't remove their work upon requests this is what happens.
