Definitely refreshing to see somebody blushing (and possibly developing feelings?) after the usual “ballet on the brain” chapters with kanade/shouko/etc.

Interesting to see how these little moments affect kanade and the other dancers in the long run, hopefully for the best. Foundationally, emotionally, and relationship wise.

I dunno dude, Kanade gets everyone blushing constantly whether they be male or female. No one is immune to her indomitable spirit

Yeah, I recently reread the earlier chapters, and she has Shouko, Sakura, Ema and even Risa blushing more furiously than this dude. Shouko especially.

Yeah, Shouko especially but I think Sakura is just straight up in love with Kanade at this point, and has been since the early days

Yeah, there's definitely a case there. But Cuvie rarely does yuri in her H stuff, so I'm guessing it's just intended to be admiration and romantic friendship.

@Northern @Ranzo Why are Americans constantly obsessed with reading blushing as demonstrations of romantic affection? Shyness is one of the main elements of Japanese stereotypes about femininity and they constantly abuse it to show the tenderness of a female character. I understand that the Japanese constantly portray human emotions too over the top, but to constantly see exclusively romantic motivation in everything is simply absurd.

Have you not read a Shoujo manga before, or any manga with romance before?
Characters constantly, constantly blush in those manga's and it's almost exclusively because either they saw some ecchi shit or someone said/done something romantic to them.
So, I don't see it as a stretch to apply that same notion to other types of manga
Like, whatchu talkin' bout Willis?

@Ranzo The assertion that blushing is solely a reaction to lewd and romantic things merely wishful thinking. Female characters blush constantly, especially if someone has done something great for them or they tsundere and blushing show that another character was able to break through their defense. The Japanese find embarrassment very cute and constantly abuse it even between male characters in shonen. Want to say that any dynamic between MC and tsundere rival in shonen is BL subtext?

And yes, I read shoujo. For example, Sawako constantly blush in response to the actions of her friends and even tells suki to them in huge numbers. You want to say that she and her female friends are bisexual? Not to mention that in romantic titles, most blushing have a certain context. Linking to this is simply biased in advance.

He even has that H protagonist hair style. Cuvie, you are showing your roots.

@duylinh Given that this manga did not yet have any full-fledged romantic subplot, then after your comment I wondered if she would go even further with these roots during this.

I didn't, in fact I said the complete opposite. Oh, and I'm not an American.
Also, you were the one banging on about "ship tease" and "masturbation" yesterday. Kinda hypocritical of you to accuse others of reading to much into things.

Ask any fujo.

@Northern I talked about the fact that romantic chemistry does not have to be obvious and directly shout about attraction between characters. Yes, this implies some ambiguous moments and freedom of interpretation, but this does not mean that any friendly interaction should be interpreted as romantic. For example, Kimi to Todoke portrays this perfectly in a heterosexual context, while Girlfriends perfectly illustrates how its work with queer women and explains the difference between friendliness and flirting. In any case, I suggested that you are an American, because I constantly read about such speculations on American resources.

@SuperOniichan Your reading comprehension is terrible.

Tell me, when I said; "I'm guessing it's just intended to be admiration and romantic friendship", how did you get that I was "interpreting any friendly interaction as romantic"?
Do you not understand that the term 'romantic friendship' means a very close but non-sexual relationship between friends?

@Northern You are talking to a person who spent a lot of time telling shippers about such a thing as romantic friendships, especially in the context of Japanese culture. And yes, I saw this post and I want to thank you for it. I addressed my post to you too, as you both discussed blushing as a potential romantic hint.

Ahahahah poor kid had to get a crush on the most oblivious person he could! Super entertaining for us, though.

Thanks for the upload!!
