This chapter is about looking to the future, or more specifically destiny vs free will.
As we already know Neko's only ambition is to finish her year of 'training' and become a High School girl. She doesn't want to be a witch and the only reason she is one is because her mother is one.
Kikka wants to be a fighter pilot because her dead father was training to be one. She's knows this is unlikely because she's not clever enough and too short as well. Taking over her grandfather's cafe is most likely.
Yayoi is the one with all the best cards she's clever, pretty and a good cook. But it looks as if she'll get no say at all in her future and this is why she resents Neko so much. It's knowing that although Neko is the daughter of a witch she can walk away from that with no repercussions, that's not an option for her (Yayoi).
