Isekai authors are not known for their intellect. Which is why every single one introduces the same exact "innovations" to the place they are sent to. Innovations that often have existed for thousands of years on our planet, and make zero sense for them to not already have. I've seen Isekai Protags introduce water pumps and pulley and lever systems into worlds that are late medieval era, when those have existed since BCE on Earth. So either the planets they are going to are beyond stupid, or the Isekai authors are, guess which gets my vote?

The one I like to cite is a manga that made spring suspension using coiled wire FIRST, instead of leaf springs.

Like guys, coil springs are not easier than spring-tempering bars of steel.

And I wonder whether the "musical" was the... Takarazuka Revue. Either way, it's nice to see that it wasn't another idol performance.

I was trying to place why in the latest chapters of Sono Bisque Doll the Evil Angel lady character Marin cosplays as looks so familiar. And now I finally figured it out.

i mean she is still a villain, even if she's 'saving the world' she probably is still planning ppl's downfall but maybe wouldnt' be as over the top cruel for emi's sake if she is watching, tho idk if emi would be 'awake'/hear her inner thoughts
Yeah, No the villainess part isn't lost on me. It's just, she's done so much cute/cool stuff lately that when her true self leaks out I get a little intimidated/scared😂

I hope Emi is watching. She'd know all Remelia has done was out of love (and vengeance).

I'm not convinced by this chapter... Crop rotation already existed in ancient Egypt. It was the number of fields (two, three or even four) and the specific crops grown on each that were refined from the Middle Ages onwards.

The last boom was the introduction of synthetic fertilisers.

In Remilia's world, you should already know a minimum crop rotation to sustain the population of these cities/kingdoms. The magically produced synthetic fertilisers would be revolutionary though.
All I can say is 'welcome to isekai'. Usually the base of isekai inventions and discovery is that 'magic exists, xx can be done easily but less efficiently with magic as a workaround'.
Usually the issue is when they forget to creat this history

It's been a while. What's up with Willard getting ridiculed at the end?
If I had to wager a guess, considering how mc had to go across half the world to get a crop that can be used for soil enrichment ,
He said ridiculous stuff:
1) the idea of leaving a field fallow or growing crops in rotation seems inefficient and draining of the land
2) he lacked data, who'd even believe the 'words of a star maiden' on farming?
3) PROBABLY THE BIGGEST ISSUE, he probably proposed any random crops in teh rotation. Since he lacked the legume from a nation away and maiden doesn't seem like a farmer, they probably used any crop available and it ended in failure

Interestimg. It's been a while since I read the WN but I don't remember any mention of a musical, it just seems in the WN the commerce with the demons just spread the stories of what happened to them among the populace. I do love how the manga has so far manage to add more details to the WN.

Also, can't wait next chapter when we see Pina get mad over the musical story and get admonished for trying to make ebemies of the demon by the stuff she says.

with how many isekai teach crop ration, it makes me think that is the default subject in every school and they make sure you remember it in detail.
I got curious and look it up, it seem like in Japan there's a subject called Shokuiku (Food Education) in elementary school. It's study the processes of making food like farming and fermentation, how additives create flavor, and where food comes from. While I doubt it will go into a detail farming, they at least already have an hunch about it.

Also I more amazed by the fact that many isekai characters remember almost all their past life memory while I sometimes don't remember what I did yesterday. Remilia had upper hand as she can see Emi's memories, but Emi and Pina need a good memory if they can remember the contents and the LINES of Otome Game.

Look i`m not going to defend Isekai authors... is always a bit cringy when an MC introduces some thing that is either weird for the people to not know yet or for a high schooler/salary man to know realistically... For the later is like the "TV genius" trope, a character that knows everything that is to know about a lot when in reality, that level of knowledge is really hard to have or get. For the former i always go with "they have magic" excuse. If we had magic, a lot of our advances would be different or even impossible to someone without magic, so not knowing about some farming methods might be excused by "they make due with magic", is a very weak excuse but allows me to not be upset.
At least in this manga noone introduced shoyu into the new world, automatically causing multiple orgasms on whoever tastes this apparently magical, peerless sauce :wooow:

Edit: I made some curry rice with one of the ready-made tablets from Daiso, which have a lot of shoyu in their composition. I'll be damned if the stuff I make myself wasn't a bit tastier :win:

You know, when the first chapter of manga came out, I hunted the WN and read it by MTL.
The WN turned out to be a low quality revenge porn novel, sprinkled heavily with wish fulfilment fantasy and other boring tropes.

I am surprised that the manga managed to make me read the same story again, and I have a much more positive feeling about it, compared to the original WN.

I’d wager the idea for agriculture that his thot Pina put forth has produced barely any fruits, plus there’s many other things working against her. Such as her draining funds. Either way he deserves it. Honestly, what merits has he brought forth as the crown prince? Barely a thing of his own power.

Also, I wonder if Emi really liked to study on various things, regardless of what they were or what use they’d be in her day to day living.
She’s was so knowledgeable and capable of bringing modern innovations into the real world.

Which you kinda need if you’re gonna isekai into another world.
I don't know if Emi needed to exactly know all of these things, she just needs to have the memory of reading and studying it since Remillia was living through her memories. So even if Emi only retained a fraction of the information just like any normal person would the mega genius Remillia remembered the whole process and might even have deduced even more things about the stuff red after connecting it with other things she learnt from Emi's memories.

Demons have been creatures of legend, for the vast majority of the people. Think of it something like the depiction of a vampire in traditional folklore. Human enough to deceive you, but monsters at heart.
Now imagine that vampires only turned to blood-sucking because a disease native to Transylvania affected how they could get iron and gave them a sunlight allergy the way certain ticks can give you a red meat allergy, and some doctor was able to come through and eradicate the disease. Could they still suck your blood? Yeah, sure. But they're not naturally inclined to do so, and they want to erase the stigma surrounding them so they can live where they please without being lynched.

On top of this, the play is, so far, only in land Remilia has some measure of control and influence in, whether it be the allies she gathered last chapter, or farms near the land she rules over. She has a much greater ability to guide the narrative, and spread the word that, essentially, the old legends are just slander from a time when the two peoples were actually at war.
It's also worth noting that the terms used here for 'Demon' and 'Demon Race' sound more distinct in Japanese than they do in English.

The manga is doing some things differently than the previous versions of this story (definitely different form the WN, and a few changes from LN as well), but from what I remember from the novels the idea is that they are putting forward the narrative that any 'Demons' that have caused havoc in recent memory (which has happened), were not members of the 'Demon Race' but instead other entities created by the Evil God, who were also attacking the 'Demon Race' at the same time in much greater numbers. The 'Demon Race' have been fighting that Evil God and recently defeated it with the help of a human girl who received an oracle from God (i.e. Remilia).

page 14 is where the mention of crop rotation, based on comment here it seem she advance the agriculture from
1. rotation the crop and let the land rest (which is still a 2 field -771 BC or 3 field rotation - 9th century)
to
2. use one plot of land for legumes plant (which is a 3 field rotation) then harvest for making magic fertilizer in demon compost ( which is modern agriculture)

A bit funny seeing all the midwit takes being thrown around as soon as crop rotation is mentioned. She even says its already practiced in her country, she just changed up how she does it + uses demon compost which was the real help. Logic won't stop the keyboard warriors though.
Yeah, a few chapters back they even talked about how crop rotation is already a thing in this world and the discussion was centered about the changes Pina planned to do to the system. I think most people overlooked the fact that Remilia was explaining this to a dwarf, who aren't exactly renowned for their farming skills.

I dislike the 'muh crop rotation' meme in isekai too, but this is one of the series where it doesn't really apply. Hell, even in the last page, instead of the nobles going "WOW THIS IS AMAZING" and creaming their pants off, they're laughing at the crown prince right in his face.

Except three crop rotation wasnt introduced to Europe until the medieval period which is when these types of series are always put in as the setting. It’s less the “lack of intelligence of the author” and more that they’re keeping to historical accuracy

Also ease up on the personal attacks against the mangaka. It takes away from whatever argument you may have on the matter

For those looking for the particular reference, the current system of crop rotation used in the kingdom is explained in Chapter 14 on Pages 12 to 13, being that they rotate the cultivation of crops both seasonally and yearly. They also divide each piece of farmland in three and each season leave one of these thirds fallow to allow restoration. I'm no expert on medieval agriculture, but this seems a reasonable approach for a kingdom that does not have ready access to synthetic fertilizers (or magical fertilizers).

The approach Pina suggests (Chapter 14, Pages 13 to 14) is to sow the fallow field with crops to feed livestock and use the manure of the livestock to revitalise the field.

By contrast Remilia instead sows the fallow field with legumes she got from the dwarves, which themselves help to revitalise the soil and the by-products of which she can use for compost. She’s also taking full advantage of course of her Demon-produced fertiliser.
