So if someone in a family works at a slaughterhouse, carries out the dead found in apartments from age, suicide or disease, and other such occupations dealing with death, the entire family is tainted, and good luck raising your social standing after that. Granted, there's migrants who handle many of those jobs now, but that hasn't stopped the discrimination of native Japanese for the actions of an ancestor. Being so disrespected for doing a necessary task, in a society where respect is of utmost importance, it's small wonder the Yakuza families formed.
