There must be those that truly believe, there always is as much as those the question, but that doesn't matter their society is already at a certain point in "politics", the best way to maintain the peasantry controlled is by fear, fear of retribution of the divine, fear of something they dont understand and when they are the one so magnanimously administrating things they are the one in control.
