The fact that this MC really isn’t growing or changing is so frustrating. They are going from endearing to annoying pretty fast, and the involvement of interesting aspects of the shop skill has dried up too.

I'd usually agree, especially with most isekai series with OP protagonists, but I can make an exception for this since this IS a laidback fantasy "foodie" series.

The problem is not his physical strength but is his meek personality.

if author don't want him to get stronger to the point where it makes him not too reliant on his familiars (he got multiple blessings tho, but so far it's useless other than for cooking and protection), at least give him character development, like make him more courageous bit by bit. This series needs some sad story where a whole city is wiped out because of his indecisiveness, then his character development begins. But i guess it's impossible for the author to do that even in the LN.

Sadly, he is pretty much stuck there. He does learn how to fight a bit but for a specific reason and not just his familiars, he will not fight nor get stronger.

The fart dragon did not exist in LN, it's an actual red dragon that Dora one-shot off screen.
MC got a joint mission with another group of adventurers and heard about Aveling's dungeon from them. (these guys show up again in another city, but welp, seems like they got skipped)

Over all, the manga version is a better pacing.

That’s the problem though, what have we actively learned about the food of the world? Or mixing preparation methods of the fantasy and the modern worlds? Or the stat bonuses that come from summoned food?

For example:
The MC could become inspired to learn a new style of cooking that he can feed to the guild members in order to power them up yet it can’t bee TOO much so he invests in some modern world foods that can be cultivated in the fantasy world, but that also means he has to get familiar with substitute ingredients available in the world so the cooking can continue without him specifically being there, and by searching these things out he gets more comfortable with the “scary” monsters of the world by actually acknowledging that he is surrounded by three god-tier creatures communicating with the literal gods of the world.

It’s really simple writing stuff but it requires the character to change and become more actively involved with the world on their own terms instead of being shuttled off by the requests of others. So far he still acts and reacts like we’re 10 chapters in and he hasn’t been affected by the amazing things that have happened in the story. The slime, wolf, and pixie dragon have more character development than him.
