...are we sure the ones in that very last pages are medics? They look like they can bend steel.
They aren't field medics for sure. Touri is currently the first field medic to be deployed to directly support the soldiers on the field.

More likely just civilians who can't enlist due to various reasons and can only be deployed in the field hospital.

That's a death flag if I've ever seen one :aquadrink:

You do NOT want to be remembered or relatable to a dead guy LMAO

I mean, his sister survives... for some time. The Lowe (Rodri's family name) family is basically the same as zeppeli from jojo (except for mc ofc), well, actually, with what happens in the LN extras... I'm not too sure.

Yay, MC can... Nevermind she'd still see the horrors of war. But at least she can be at the backlines

we're practically talking meat grinders and/or human waves attack... and that would mean going back to world war 1 tactics or "modern" Russia.
You've been listening to too much propaganda. Independent sources calculate 7-13 Ukrainians dead for every Russian dead. Russia has not been engaging in meat wave tactics. Vs. Ukrainians who have done that frequently. Ukraine has long been using press gangs to drag men off the street and throw them onto the front lines with near-zero training to die. Russia has paid a price for sure, but nothing like the price that Ukraine has paid. (On top of the land and industry that they've lost.)

Never rely on mainstream news. Check multiple source. Its okay (and unavoidable) to listen to biased source, but also seek out sources biased the other way. And you can find independent neutral sources if you look.

Leaving everyone in order to lead others... Isn't this the start of Touri's own road diverting from theirs? That's kind of sad. Maybe Garrick went through this, too.

This is sooo good. And sooo Brutal and painful. 😭But damn, its' good.

Author hitting us with image of Touri in wonderful happy scene at orphanage. ... When we know that they're likely all dead. Probably raped and tortured before being burned to death.

And what's super rare... An MC is deeply and openly emotionally connected to the people she (re)grew up with. It's absolutely clear that she loved and was loved, and that she was happy there.

And we have a GS MC who is comfortable being female and around females. And who has enduring, but non-aggressive personality (in a war!). Story shows true respect to medics operating at/near the front line.

And bonus points for seeing Touri in a different feminine light (dress at start, then in bath, minus soldier's kit). This far in, that was a pleasant surprise to see.

PS: The official translation of LN vol 1 is now out. Buying it but I'm going to have to wait to read. Got to set enough time aside to read it one go.

I mean they aren't medics, at most some of them are civilian doctors/nurses or otherwise local volunteers.

That said there is a need for big strong people in a care environment, for hauling supplies sure but moreso for moving disabled/incapacitated patients or even restraining mentally unwell ones.

If you have a big buff soldier you will be happy to have a big buff orderly to carry them!

Yeah I understand that but two of those guys look like they could lift half the people in that room at once :p A Far cry from the Medics in the Base Hospital.
