It's a bit similar with Kumo desu ga where the power scaling is done gradually as our heroes go across tightrope situations, and battles are decided through setup and tactics.

I'm glad I got past through the first chapters that stunk of "revenge porn story #898." This is actually well paced.

I can totally see how you thought that at first. However i must say i knew right away this would be different on account of MC. He is the single most different Japanese MC i have ever seen. His hair, his face and build clearly stand out as not your typical wimpy JP MC. But what really hypes me are his character and his attitude. The fat MCs from Black Piggy Prince and Hero to Demon King might look physically very different but they both are still that traditional "I Am The Only Hero Here" character you always see. This guy knows what he's doing and he's doing it because he likes it -no excuses -no whining -no lame romcom crap.
On the other hand i have to admit i am probably reading most, if not all 897 of those "revenge" series.

I like this story, but I do wish the author had a few more ideas other than the endless cycle of "fight boss, boss harder than expected, win narrowly, repeat".

Agreed. They should go with the Overlord route of storytelling by incorporating politics and widening the scope of the story. I'd be double invested if so.

Was it really ever revenge porn, though? Revenge wasn't one of Elma's motivations as he was just trying to get past the brutal starting skills that his class provided.

If this actually ends with Luce getting the grim reaper skill tree, but not actually using the scythe drop they got against this boss (which boosts crit + reduces enemy MP, both of which are perfect for this fight), that'd be pretty funny.

IIRC, Luce skill set only let her use dagger. She cannot use scythe effectively. It may need a different skill tree.

aside from bring Isekai, this work well as a MMORPG type too if author want it to be one.
the fight clearly far better than most, the characters also amazing compare to those with OP MC and ton of faceless NPC or Harem member.

So that is how the story does class turn points. For the longest time I thought Luce's turn point was over. Then again it was just a drop generator and not as a battle skill.

I'm expecting a fight per op class skill book now.
