I kinda think the author got sidetracked from the sidetracking they did from the sidetracking at this point

Makoto was given the command from the Moon God (Moon-led journey/Moonlit Fantasy) to just live his life however he wants, and just maybe protect the Heroes if it comes up. Life is what happens when you get sidetracked from doing what you were planning to. So, story is still on point.

this manga is good...when it actually involves the main characters, mc feels like an after thought nowadays and the main plot is only told every 3 chapters in small bites, everytime we pull focus to his students it feels like im reading an entirely different and much more boring manga

This chapter was also confusing for me; most texts don't use subjects, and some don't make any sense until you read a couple of pages/lines further.

The problem with master is not just it's weird to call your school teacher that. It overlaps with how the subspace residents call him, so it can get confusing.

If the characters say "師匠", or "master", then it should be used.

But even the kids are using "先生", or "teacher" so I agree with you.

And a bit later when they're going through the flashbacks, "so she's like your master?" She does say 師. But now contextually the translator has now made the titles given these two characters the same thing.

It makes some sense as teacher and master have origins with each other, but master also has a negative connotation to some given it's history in the USA.

I remember in the Dresden Files, Harry is talking to his 300 year old teacher, and the man speaks of his teacher, whom he calls "master" and remind Harry the word has different meanings over the years.

That said, you have some leeway.
From what I saw in the raw, most of the instances are just "sensei", not the full title. So, you can just use sensei.

Also, there are several places where you can use pronouns "he/him" and "you" if you want.
Like when Abelia talked about Shiki being rumored to be gay, the small texts can just be "Don't tell me, you and Shiki-san..."
And in the panel below, Jin can just say "the courage to ask him that".
That's the function of pronouns after all.

You're doing great, and as others have said, it can be shortened. We'll know who characters are referencing through context if you keep the context of the work. "Teacher" from the students-> Kuzunoha.
"Master" from the demiplane citizens-> also Kuzunoha. We read a little above the fifth grade level, so let us do the brain work

And if you're feeling extra spicy, I think most readers are weeby enough to be okay with sensei and shisho, respectively.

I understand about keeping the respectful tone. In fact, I actually prefer it that way, like keep the "sensei" instead of replacing with "you".

I only mentioned replacing name/title with pronouns as a possible way to reduce the "mouthful" feeling you had. Personally, I don't find Kuzunoha-sensei to be mouthful.
So, my preference would be Kuzunoha-sensei (or just sensei depending what's in the raw) >>> teacher/professor > pronouns >>>>>>>>>>>> master.

I have tried doing solo tl (but failed) and know how much effort is needed, so I really appreciate your work.
I apologize if I was too harsh on my critic. I was just too passionate about keeping honorific in Japanese... but I really think "master" is wrong in this context for the reasons I and the others mentioned.
