....Nope...they didn't snap out of it. They're resisting but they were very close to buying it if it weren't for the baby being born..So yeah, it seems like this time it was some kind of supernatural baby creature that captures people as host bodies to incubate in, then eventually it'll emerge as a copy of that person. While it's incubating, it compels other people in the area to hang themselves using some sort of umbilical cords connected to the incubator in order to provide it sustenance. And once it's birthed, it goes around to infect other people to continue the life cycle.
Hama and Yume would have been victims as well, but their friendship with each other was so strong that they snapped out of its mind control. Honestly, pretty scary how close they were to death, and Yume couldn't smell anything to prevent it.
Yeah, her jobs are basically the epitome of "No Escape"...like I think all of her jobs had the duo barely escape with their lives. I mean, yeah, Q jobs involved some metaphysical stuff...plus cosmic horror but still.man the plot reads like some bizarre hentai I saw before lol,
and man do I ever want to punch shit teeth bitch in the face.
My favourite example of this is from the manga "You can hear the voice of the dead" which is a similar collection of the protagonist encountering mostly unrelated horror stories, a lot of them can end the world on their own, and actually does crash down together at the end, which is pretty funny.Geez...whatever it is that kept the world stable in this universe got their work cut out of them with this. I mean, come on..in a world with killer mascots, merman invasion, giant hands that can kill people because reasons, a briefcase that for some reason cause mass hysteria....SOMEONE would be handling the world..
Great taste, all of Sachiko Uguisu's works are worth a read."You can hear the voice of the dead"
It ends on a cliffhanger, I wanna see the MC stop Cthulhu rising from his slumber..My favourite example of this is from the manga "You can hear the voice of the dead" which is a similar collection of the protagonist encountering mostly unrelated horror stories, a lot of them can end the world on their own, and actually does crash down together at the end, which is pretty funny.
adding on to this we do actually know that Yume can smell danger of the supernatural kind (black) and safety within the supernatural (white). Though I'd argue that rather than green being something Yume cannot pick up on, this story is just one of those where her nose isn't reliable due to something else mainly the rotting corpses already covering her sense of smell.I feel like Yume's nose activates when she smells strong negative emotions (grey) or active ill intent/malice (red). This has made our two protagonists complacent. They're unprepared against entities which aren't actively malicious but their existence/actions causes harm to humans. Like green is probably for nature.
