@gashadokai , you keep using the word salt to refer to alcohol. I do not think that word means what you think it means. I don't know what the raws say, but the closest word in English would be malt, though this is semi-germinated grain used to make alcohol and is also not right. It looks like they're drinking whiskey or brandy or some other kind of hard liquor.
Kinda weird you commented here instead in ch 3, but they really said shio (塩) which means salt.

1) Page 1 made me realize that I've never referenced "scrambled eggs" as a phrase as a singular, even if only one egg is used.
2) As a kid who, at a point, both Rs and Ls were Ws, Lily is absolutely relatable.

Saw this on the front page because it was just now being promoted in that top 10 marquee, and my god. Lily is adorable and Weiss is a great dad. Please dear god don't let this series get the axe or end after only a tiny amount of chapters.

I read the novels to see if this was gonna do some Usagi Drop shit, thankfully I did not see anything weird from what I read.

It is a wholesome parenthood story to the core, don't worry.

I will not answer specific questions of spoilers about what I read though.

Go read it yourself if you want spoilers.

My memory as kid kick in when reading this.

I remember learning to read as kid and was like "why is this important?" and thought "I know how to read" but couldn't read a lot of words due to that arrogant.

Looking back at it now. Man. 30+ years is something.

I was referring to Chapter 3 page 19 and Chapter 5 page 6, the TL uses the word "SALT" to refer to alcohol. Which is clearly not right. Sake is also probably not correct, due to the western setting and the absence of rice from any and all food scenes.
And yet you somehow missed the salt plates in chapter 3, they didn't give them a panel for no reason lol, in both chapter 3 and chapter 5 "塩" is being used, chapter 5 specifically says salt as a snack in the raws, some people irl do add salt to their alcohol, so is likely the same case here

It's a bit unsettling how casually he throws out the phrase "superior race".
Somewhat understandable. Dude has a very realistic outlook on life. Fucking hates slavery and oppresion, but knows full well he aint BS OP Isekai Protag enough to fully dismantle it.
So a variant of an already long-lived, magically adept race with even more life, more magic, more mental capacity for magic and gods know what else; it's quite practical to assume they're superior to most other mortal races

Not that superior in the bigger picture of course. They're all still mortal.
And if they were truly superior, they wouldn't be so extinct now would they?

This chapter felt a bit fast for my taste? It feels like we skipped ahead by like a couple of months in a couple of pages by really accelerating Lily's development.

That moment when she still couldn't speak but became expressive spoke volumes about how his persistent fatherly love and care was not wasted effort at all. For a rookie dad he's doing very well.

That second half felt sped up a bit, but maybe it's because Lily is already capable of more things than he thought, and she just didn't want to/couldn't do them while she had her heart closed off to the cold and cruel world she knew. Then she started opening up to Weiss after he showed her what a warm and loving home is like. Or she's really just a fast learner and a gifted child.

That ominous statement from last chapter had me on guard but this chapter was purely heartwarming. Just don't tell me it's because of the calm before the storm.
