You know what would be hilarious?

If prez and VP killing people was what made all this bad stuff happen. I mean...it's already the case with making Seo snap from their attempted murders on her, but let's be real here: manipulating events to kill people when they shouldn't have died should be just as catastrophic as saving people when they should've died.

Hell, they might've even been the reason Satsuki's mother got shanked.

All i read this chapter was "blah blah blah im a bitch, so i like bitches like kai, you are not a bitch, so i hate you".
The only thing i can hope is that satsuki finds herself again and continues saving people, cause thats the best "her" there is. And if by chance seo gets run over by a car, well, that would be nice too.
Also, Miho continues to deliver, the littel rascal, saving people just cause she wanted to laugh at Seo's face.

uh… that’s quite stupid reason the vice prez has to told everyone who has been btching Satsuki there

but oh well, i guess as long as it works. we also have Shiina who become MVP this time, i can imagine she must have been wheezing as Seo leave to go to the location

i’m gonna guessing the last premonition corpse up there gonna be either Vice Prez or Seo

Fundamental Problem: The author is trying to deal with difficult moral balancing, but the author is a complete idiot on moral issues. It's like a dude talking excitedly about math when he can't even get "2+2" right.

At this point, I'm just popcorn watching for the lulz of what new stupidity the author is going spew out.

So the Student Council was a cult. And Vice Prez will probably go down thinking the serial killing they did was right.

Girl, stop with the anti-hero complex, different degrees of punishment are needed for different degrees of fucked up a person can be.

Also, when will the ✨queen✨ just off Seo from the plot? You are sabotaging her, yes, but do it better. Make her go to jail.

P.S: The lack of Komachi appearing is concerning. She plottin’.
I think it's kinda worth a mention that the Prez and Vice Prez seem to be the only ones in that cult. The rest are pretty messed up, but in a different way.

Reading the comments here is kinda frustrating. I don't think the manga was ever portraying Kai as an outright villain OR trying to "vindicate" him in death and portray him as "right." I don't think it's trying to portray either of them as specifically "right," though I do agree his approach is a bit more "wrong" than Satsuki's.

His main role was showing the multiple perspectives to the ability to see premonitory corpses. Satsuki has a pathological need to save people thanks to the trauma with her mother, so she focuses mostly on the "situation": how they die, and how to prevent the death. The corpses only show up 24 hours in advance at most though, so she's basically living in the moment and acting with a constant sense of urgency.

Kai however didn't have that need, and thus was able to analyze the situation and the overall ability from a less emotional standpoint. Compared to Satsuki, he DID focus more on helping the living, because he looked at how to improve the situation overall to try to prevent those corpses from appearing altogether. Don't agree with him murdering people to do it, but that particular method also came from trauma: he saw Saijou (vice pres) being bullied by their teacher, and with that power balance, he couldn't think of any way to save her than to remove the teacher from the picture. Given the fact that first murder saved her, Saijou naturally saw it as "right" and fed into that view as they got older.

One other key aspect of his viewpoint though: he thought messing with "fate" can have consequences. He outright told Satsuki that he'd seen a lot more premonitory corpses since she enrolled and that he thought "fate is looking for another death" to replace the lives she'd saved. And honestly? I think his theory might be right. His approach of killing off an "evil" person to keep it balanced is still pretty wrong, but... It IS weird how many deaths Satsuki has seen in the span of this manga. It's not just a case of a story being more eventful than reality: Satsuki saw her first premonitory corpse in third grade, and then five years later saw her mother's. So she'd had the ability for at LEAST five years without seeing a premonitory corpse, while in the span of this manga she's seen dozens.

Basically, the situation is more nuanced than one person being totally right or wrong. They're both right and wrong, just in different areas. While he and the vice president are wrong for justifying murdering people, they're right to focus on preventing the corpses from appearing in the first place by improving the overall environment. We automatically think of Satsuki as "right" because saving people is generally morally upright, but she's reactionary and only acts once she sees corpses. She doesn't really think to look at the larger picture unless she sees that person die again, which can have nasty long-term consequences if it's not a one-off incident, and struggles at how to help people outside of literally saving their lives.

One more thing: all the characters are right when they say that Satsuki is saving people so she won't feel guilty. She doesn't realize it because saving people IS inherently good, so it's hard to call it "selfish," but her motive does ultimately stem from her guilt more than altruism. And we've seen how that can make her tear herself apart even more when she fails, girl's living on the edge of a breakdown at all times.
Helping folks in need when you know they'll die otherwise is definitely a hard thing to classify as pathological, especially when compared to targeted executions.

What is pathological is not the deed, but her mindset.
A doctor doing all they can to save patients is doing a right thing.
But if that doctor saves all the patients they can, in hope that it will erase their sins and if they fails once they collapse...
They are still doing rightous thing but with very pathological minset.
This kind of thing can only lead to a self-destruction and Satsuki is exactly on that path.

About the comment section, I think Fennec said it all. You people read characters as a direct and completely faithful translation of the author's feelings about a subject, as if people only develop characters with characteristics they align with.

As for the story itself, lol. Some dots simply don't connect.
  1. Had Seo's plan to blow up the gym followed the same technique as that one classroom, then Miho noticing the same pattern would've been logical. The problem is that it's a different approach, and even if she suspected that Seo was capable of (and willing to) blow up the entire gym, why would she look at an object outside the main gym and immediately deem it as suspect? Miho is smart, arguably the smartest character in the manga, but she's not omniscient. That's an asspull.
  2. VP turning off the mic and her dismissing speech implies that she knows about Satsuki clearing that classroom, and immediately suspects Seo would try something similar in the gym. The latter could be justified as an understandable manner of paranoia; she's witness to Prez murder, after all; but the former makes no sense (she was supposedly bawwing her eyes out over Prez's corpse), unless we accept that, at some point, she contacted a teacher or some other relevant staff, maybe specifically Doumoto-sensei. But in that case, there's no way, absolutely no way she wouldn't mention that the Prez has been murdered, that Seo did it and she's out there in the school. Satsuki not voicing it was understandable, she's snapped. Miho just leaving without even informing Doumoto-senei was awful, but we know Miho, it was probably a reflection of her character. VP not saying a thing in this case is just shit writing, and if we don't accept the base assumption, then it's an even bigger asspull. And on that subject, if she did contact any school teacher or staff...
  3. What's the school staff doing? Even if they didn't want to raise panic by informing the students that there's been a murder, why wouldn't they be looking for Seo? Where the hell is the police!? I understand young japs tend to try solving things on their own, instead of relying on adults who, they think, will just make matters worse, but we're talking murder in cold blood. This is simply ridiculous.
Quite disappointed with this arc, to be honest.

She's doing it to assuage her guilt and trauma more than wanting to just help. Her driving motivation is that she did nothing when she saw her mother's premonitory corpse because she didn't know what it was, even stepping over her mother's body. On that note, her mom was still alive when she walked past her corpse. Her mom's body still had the black smoke, so she wasn't dead yet. Satsuki even mentions how "if she'd just reached out to touch her mom under her premonitory corpse" so she's realized this too.

That adds an extra layer of pressure to succeed compared to doing it out of the goodness of her heart. She ties her self-worth to saving lives, it feels like a personal responsibility to stop deaths so every death weighs far heavier than it should. It's already not doing her mental health any favors right now, and that's without a catastrophic failure.
