I agree except in defence of Shiori I will point out that her whole character is about being a monster and not having an understanding of how to properly solve human problems(plus that she is dealing with one of the least normal humans ever). Personally I think this chapter is the point where both Shiori and Hinako realise that they've been living in their own illusions about each other and that it's time for them to confront each other in their true forms and desires.

Shiori's expressions towards the end hurt me more than anything in this manga... It's like all of her monster pride, sense of superiority, smugness vanished now that she understood her "true wish" is fucked.
And now, one more character is depressed. Lovely.
I still wish for a good ending, but I don't know, maybe something tragic would be nice as well.

Yeah, I don't fault her for having trouble with dealing with humans, since (like you said) her experience with dealing with humans (besides as food/enemies) is little to none. Even Miko took a long time, before she figured out how to deal with humans better. However, she didn't really bother to listen to Miko's advice, and that's likely going to come back and bite her in the end.

This series has gotten so dark. I mean it's premise was always dark but it didn't really go that far. I'm going to take the wish the exact same way I took it before. Hinako never told her she would eat her the moment she became happy again. What's going to stop her from waiting for Shiori to be 95 and on her death bed after a happy fulfilled life and completing said promise then?
