I could not agree more with you than I already do. Author made this story go from a 10/10 to a 5/10 when they said “fuck the MCs, let me instead focus on these annoying drama seeking side characters for way longer than I ever focused on the MCs”

This happen in a lot of Yuri... I dont get what's up with people like you acting as if author did something crazy when it's extremely common in Yuri to have the author write an arc that focus on the love story of side character...

Ah this trope again. Arbitrary rules to stall...Is it an established fact in Japan that no one can do ANYTHING other than study and sleep when its their year for enterence exams? I've been there myself years ago but never seen even the top achievers going that hard at it that you wouldn't have time to do anything else. Specially something like sex to relieve stress. I better not see Yori do anything else after this point if so.

They're just both worried about taking it to the next step, Himari because she is super innocent and doesn't understand sexual feelings yet, and Yori because she feels she is overwhelming/pushing her feelings onto Himari when Himari isn't ready/doesn't want to do it. And because they are both worried they make an excuse to push back dealing with it a bit longer, it's not necessarily a good excuse at all, but it doesn't need to be good for it to just be an excuse for them to put off facing those feelings fully, and it's pretty understandable to want to push off things you're worried about.

It is common but in this one the side couple completely overtook the screentime of the MCs. Personally I don't really mind but I get why people are annoyed with Aki and Shiho (apart from Shiho's haircut, that weird side ponytail looks so stupid , I kept referring to her as haircut girl in my mind while reading)

Not to mention that Shiho involved Kino for literally no reason (still don't really get why she insisted on making a random first year with no music business experience whatsoever into a band manager, but well, petty drama was needed I guess) and the whole drama was of the "just talk for 5 minutes" variety to begin with. But I guess that's another staple of yuri - and romance in general to be fair.

Unrequitted love and jealousy are a fact of life unfortunately but Shiho sure was annoying and extremely petty when she was introduced, which probably didn't do her any favours for a lot of the readers who became more and more annoyed the longer this arc got, and made it a bit difficult to root for her.
