He may actually love Jill (in a twisted sense, I guess?) Like he loves his sister and Jill and he sees being part of raising his child as show of his love (I'm not sure how to articulate it right) but that's what I think. Maybe the royal family knows something about the story behind the dragon god and the goddess considering it keeps being mentioned
