Matora stated the reason why in the very chapter. Karuna wants power, but would later regret it because it wouldn't be truly her own.
So Matora will bear the burden. Really says a lot about their friendship.

Did you not read the chapter? Karuna's going to abandon the power if she gets it because she's indecisive. Matora knows her better than the audience ever could, so don't make assumptions on things that are literally spelled out right in front of you.

... As the chapter explained, Matora likes having friendly fights. And she decided to go for the power just to keep her friend from picking it up and then shaming herself by dropping it (and her master) later.

Neither of them actually wanted it. But since Karuna wasn't going to back down since she wasn't admitting to herself she didn't want it, Matora had to stop her - and also get a fun friendbattle in while she's at it since she really likes those.

Also the powerup made her tits really hot, so there's that?

Alot of people complaining about any stupid plot from this manga but still enjoy it, why? because I was one of them.
