Wait, oh shit yeah you're right!

"Kusunoki's Flunking Her High School Glow-Up" sure sounds awfully similar in spirit to;

"It's a Little Late, but I've Fallen in Love with My Childhood Friend " :notlikethis:
The strongest girl failure of today vs the strongest girl failure in history

Yami hate so strong it jumps into another manga's comments!

Let us not judge Yami for her sins, but accept Yami for the totality of her character. Her trauma, her defensiveness, and the fact that she fucks. Pretty based high school GF tbh.
I'm a Yami simp myself, just cracking a joke. I also wish people wouldn't be so invested on shitting on flawed characters.

Nah she sucks and continues to suck into the present timeline, so it’s clear a hoe can’t be trusted

Ok, let's put things on perspective, Snake girl got disillusioned with people very early on, the friends she trusted were mean and just followed whoever was "stronger", her parents left her alone, and the idol she admired wasn't as pure as she thought. This left her with a very "only the strong survives" social mentality, thinking there was no selfless act of kindness, everyone must have a underlying egoistical motive, and only by being the meanest and manipulate others could she avoid getting hurt.

On the other hand, we have the MC who is actually kind, but got hurt by her so he closed his heart. Despite that, he can't go against his nature and goes beyond his trauma to help others. He got a pretty similar "shock" than the snake girl, but despite being hurt, he didn't let that change him. He became afraid of women, but never went out of his way to hurt them. He was afraid of being hurt again, if he had been like the snake girl, he probably would have become an incel.

The FL also seems to have her own traumas, though I don't quite recall the details right now. She is the weakest of the trio, but still works as a foil to the snake girl. Precisely because of how pure she looks, snake girl wants to expose her, to show that it is just a mirage. Nobody can be that perfect, people like that need to be exposed, so that the snake girl's worldview and actions can be justified. And the FL is not perfect, but she isn't imperfect in the way snake girl thinks. She has flaws, but she isn't trying to hide them, nor is she using her attributes to manipulate others.

If things go my way, the interactions the snake girl has with the MC and the FL will confront her with the idea that her worldview and actions are and were wrong. When this happen to people, they rarely accept it easily, so I imagine she is going to try to force a situation where the MC and FL are exposed, she would need to show that they are as egoist and double faced as she thinks everyone else is, but aside from causing some drama, this would only blow on her face, which can then be used for character development for her.

Remind me what percentage of his HebiHate was her being a jerk, and what percentage was him projecting his insecurity about things she didn't actually do?

Even jerks need love!
I don't think it was ever specifically "hate" so much as like, a primordial terror of beautiful girls like Ririsa that took root in his little middle school lizard brain. To such a degree that it manifests as debilitating nausea and shakes.

I believe the story was that Hebikawa was one of the only people in the school to be nice to him, and then, one day, he rounds the corner to the classroom and sees Hebikawa and her two friends, and her friends are giving her shit for talking to him. She makes eye contact with our guy and agrees with them "yeah he's gross" and plays it off like she was only taking pity on him to look charitable to everyone else for her own benefit. I don't think it's been shown what their relationship actually looked like in detail.

If I had to guess, she probably did enjoy talking to him, but broke his heart to save face in front of her friends. Total speculation tho.

I'd say more than even love, she needs a place where she knows she can be vulnerable without anything bad happening to her. Tall order, given who she's become.

Well this just seems extremely uncharacteristic of her. Suspicious.
