Bakuman is the story of two people who spent years apart working on their careers instead of working on their relationship and expect things to be great once they get together.

It won't.

Charlotte said she wanted to learn Japanese properly to be able to consume manga. That's certainly valid. Not everything is translated. But then she said she could never read manga with friends because they don't know Japanese. Apparently the author doesn't know there's an ocean freighter's load of manga that has been translated into English (and other languages). Yet Charlotte continues by mentioning there's globally popular manga, meaning the author does know manga is translated into other markets as well. So, which is it, huh? This inconsistency makes me think Charlotte and Emma indeed are sisters, and Charlotte as well isn't above twisting Aoyagi around her little finger a little bit.

Even for a niche reference, Bakuman feels more niche than most...
Akhtualy, Bakuman. was big in Japan, it's overseas that ppl don't know it that much. It's these new mangakas gen that knew it when it was published.
Also, I'm pretty sure it was advertised everywhere in the country as Death note's authors second manga together.
100% not niche at all.
