Yeeeep this trope sucks. As long as the girl accepts MC by the end of the mini arc without being excessively annoying it'll be fine. I do think a "bodyguard" for the naive girl is reasonable. They don't need to be written like this though. Like the butler was a good amount of "bodyguard"-y writing. He expressed concern for the heroine, but saw she was genuinely having a good time and thought MC was a good influence.

Peak faces though. lmao.

Seriously tho, why so many mangas include THAT kind of character. Are annoying lesbians (not saying this new girl will be one, just talking about those characters) that popular in Japan? Or maybe authors/editors are afraid to include a male love rival?
