for anybody who feels uncomfortable with trans caricatures like me, gelf from the light novel was consistently just a kind and helpful person who cared about alicia's safety and made her equipment. the only issue is that she identifies as a woman but was assigned male at birth and yet every character misgenders her, which is probably a result of the author lacking knowledge about gender identity. the talk about gelf looking "dangerous" and people being on guard about her due to her being obviously trans is pretty much the worst it gets. no slurs or anything worse than this will appear

That is actually something I have been wondering when I read the LN. I have considered if Gelf is supposed to just be a crossdresser, since the side story mentioning Gelf still loves her dwarven body despite it doesn't match feminine fashion, but everything else about her is similar to someone coming out of their closet. It does make sense that the author simply wrote it out of ignorance, though we are just speculating at this point.

I believe they have some different standards over in Japan, so they're not exactly following the Western trans handbook. And if it's supposed to be the standard "Medieval" fantasy, a lot of these concepts didn't even exist back then, and what did exist was thought of widely differently.

I don't really want to think about it, but i have to think about it. Girl that age mostly already reached menstrual cycle. I might be wrong because idk her actual age. So, by going commando, she just splattered her menstrual blood everywhere or directly on her pant?! That's so not hygienic!
