Just wrote a whole final paper, only to look at the rubric and realize that it had a whole other section I hadn't even written about. And I'd reached the length limit.

I just turned it in as is. I'm not going to bother.
Speaking of which, now I have to write a second paper about the history of the name Macedonia, it's political connotations, and how it was weaponized by Tito's Yugoslavia against Greece.

This is legit how it feels reading the thread.
Verily , I haven't laughed aloud for a while - though ; I must admit , It surpises Me that Thine " evil villian " analogy wasn't a One-time term said on a whim , which - in a rather Funny turn , I dare say - comes to mean that Mine optics aren't in the Best , to say gently , It can be in Thine eyes , I presume.

Just finished a little writing project for my alternate history one-off! It's posted on the forums. You can see the map of the Europe in this timeline's mid 1700s here.

If You wish to hear Some suggestions , let Me share Mine :
saxonia / sexonia & eirean should switch places ,
don't call " Roman empire " eastern or " of aragon " - as this is against the blood of Roman governance ,
riga isn't where riga is located ,
why , and how , Kazakhs rule as far as Archangelsk - I beg of You , do explain ,
" Occupation " can get a Proper name , to say the least ,
You need a legend to list Those countries without a name ,
You can switch " Cantons " to italian or german to make It appear at least authentic ,
why portugal needs to control as far as cadiz-madrid-gijon line while It's more logical to keep at galicia ,
You can change " Papacy " to " Holy see " ,
austrians or burgundians or flemish or hamburger or prussian people gets ruled by saxons but not baverians ; but , again , I have to question that choice ,
It'd be best to change " Legitimiste kingdom ( ... ) " to " Lordship of ( ... ) " ,
Roman empire in the east can afford to control half of italy , but leaves venice from mora to venice ( City ) to alone - even though It cuts through Land-routes , dare I ask why ?

1. Saxonia and Eireann are both the exonym names. The official name of Saxonia is still the Holy Roman Empire. Eireann is actually Mhor Bhreatain.
2. The entire point of the map is that multiple states are all claiming to be Roman. Aragon is claiming their empire is Roman after getting confirmed by the Papacy. Poland through the marriage of the daughter of Zoe Palaiologos to the king of Poland. The Holy Roman Empire claimed it IRL.
3. My mistake. It was a mapping error, and I apologize.
4. With a lack of any other authority, especially considering the collapse of Muscovy and therefore all their tributes (i.e. Perm), Kazan/Qazaqs had an easy time asserting themselves. Novgorod's war against Sweden allowed them to push into Archangelsk with relatively little repercussions.
5. I believe there's maybe 2 or 3? Malta under the Knights, the greatly shrunken Milan, and Parma.
6. I didn't have space to write the German name for the Cantons alongside the French and Italian names, so I just wrote "The Cantons". Let it be known they would be identical to the Swiss endonyms for each group.
7. Portugal was part of the Aragaonese coalition to divide Castille. They would not have been able to appease Portugal without giving them parts of Leon (which they had claimed), and Portugal had controlled Gibraltar at the time, so they would likely want to link up with their territories in the south. Think of it as a way that the balance in Iberia would be maintained with a stronger Aragon.
8. Papacy as in Papal States.
9. Bavaria was kept functionally independent because pan-German nationalism could not have existed in such a world where the Saxons had essentially ripped through the entirety of the country.
10. Legitimist title is based on the IRL title of those who support the original French dynasty, I figured it would be appropriate for a French monarchist exile state.
11. Venice was largely influential in the Eastern Mediterranean and taking them out would unnecessarily hamper trade. When you consider the Poles are obviously overextended by this point, it makes more sense for them to keep Venice alive than to try and annex them. Especially if they can rely on Venetian naval support against the Mamluks.
