I doubt anyone on the thread thought the series was realistic. The puzzling part is what the author is going for.
The author is going for cool fights and establishing the FemMC's mentality more clearly and showing that her goal is not 'being the strongest', it's a lot more personal and 'whimsical' than that. She just wants to fight and preferably win in and of itself, like a more brutal Goku.
That's what he's making. The question is whether he thinks there's more to it, whether there is internal consistency to the world he's depicting, and whether FemMC is a character or just a plot contrivance. It's also entirely possible for the author to be flat delusional; in Eeichiro Oda's mind the Wano Arc and Hamlet are masterpieces of tragedy. My guess is this guy views his manga as a call to realize that the world isn't as predictable as people think.
It's translated as 'martial arts' several times in chapter 9. Even when FemMC is quoting him to criticize the statement.
If you're including smarts as a way to prove who is strongest, politicians of various sorts and rich dudes with armed guards are OP.
Lol, I have watch Black Lagoon and Rezy is absolutely destroys most people except that killer maid.
