Its definitely a kind of "have your cake and eat it too" deal. The author wants to both have the mc(and the readers who dlef insert) experience the fantasy of completely controlling someone and doing whatever you desire to them while also trying to not have that person be a total scumbag.

So instead of having him meet someone who consents to being hypnotized, or even desires it, they make the protag solve some other issue the girl has been having, so then its "ok" when he essentially sexually assaults them. And of course, they eventually grow to like him for some bizzare reason or another because why wouldnt they?

Its a plot that reeks of "nice guy" thought processes, ie. people who think that if a man is nice to a woman and gives her giftd for long enough, then the man is owed affection and evebtially sex from the woman.
