You should re-read to see that the boxing guy was overthinking. I guess in his daily training or ring fight, he hasn't had a chance to practice escaping a choke because the choke is an illegal move. No matter how strong or experienced you are, when facing a hard situation that you only have a few seconds to flip the result, you must have enough practice to pull it off.
The guy is not completely naive, I think if a guy pulls out a knife and wants to stab him, he will run away. But his ego believed he could win in a non-weapon, casual fight is the reason he lost.

Lol, you really proved my point didn't you? Already shown my opinion in ch 13, will keep reading for a while because I'm giving it the chance to surprise me. But this manga is really bad. There's literally no visual element that would make me think that this author is not trying to make a realistic story, even the detailed pages about moves and explaining them is ridiculous when you're trying to apply them to a normal high schooler girl.

It's not even a problem of "hur dur, a story doesn't need to be realistic" of course it doesn't, fantasy is one of my favorite genre, but even Baki somewhat does more justice to this manga title (Hurray, Violence!) than this manga itself.

If a MMA champion's punches are more dangerous in your head than getting jumped by multiple people while they attack you from behind and a full speed car crash while standing up in a van with no seatbelts, you're the problem, not the manga.

The girl couldn't lose here because the entire point of the fight is convincing the MC her way is the right one so he can get dragged deeper into insanity, any other result would have been actual bad writing. You might as well be complaining about Baki's imaginary dinner with Yujiro at this point.
