Assuming that the publisher doesn't exhibit the good sense simply to cancel the series hard-and-fast, at a bare minimum, this scene gets two more chapters. Another chapter or two might be used for an inserted flashback to explain the behavior of the fellow who attacked the king.

Holy fuck so much bullshit in this chapter

• Sudden asspull of "oh the cube also acts as a restrain for him"
• Not getting any skill, even his hidden dark magic skill. It IS a skill so how come he doesn't get it? Is it just because it's hidden and his skin didn't turn dark the moment he punched the sage? Do MC need to be a battle junkie and turn his skin dark too to get it?
• The king who is explained as someone strong and feared in the kingdom fall for the ambush just like that. Aight sure no one saw that but easily punctured with fist? I hope it actually does nothing to him cuz it'd just ruin the image the story built up so far.

This manga has gone downhill with this stupid "tournament" arc and stupid cliche last second powerups OH LOOK YOU THOUGHT I WAS DEFEATED BUT NO WITNESS MY NEW ULTIMATE XXL MEGA SUPER ULTRA LAST FORM(kidding, there will probably be another powerup!) its very typical for mangas that armors is only there for show, its commonplace for manga authors to be stupid enough to think full plate armors is like wet toiletpaper, you normally have ordinary foot soldiers cutting through full plate armor with swords as if not even there, makes you question if the armor is that worthless, why is anyone bothering with them? its just plain and pure stupidity taken to the extreme.
in a magical world setting such as this you would think the king of all people, especially a powerfull front fighter king like this dude is supposed to be, would have a highly magicaly enhanced top national treasure level armor, but guess not, its the usual wet toiletpaper kind of armor.

The guy known for his creativity with spells, has a berserk state that does one thing basically. Super op mode that breaks stuff.

All the spell he got is something he learned, he got no skills from his sage class so he's learning magic on his own and using them all via the cube. The dark magic is sealed on the cube and the moment the cube got destroyed it automatically activates. Spells and skills aren't the same. Spells is something you can learn while skill is what you get from your class apparently, so what his using are spells which is accessible since he has huge amount of mana but no skill that came from his class.

Explanation kinda makes sense but man, why so convoluted and why is random phase 2 necessary. Concept here was definitely neat and given time Sage guy could be a cool rival with no skills vs all skills clashing every once in a while.

I like how she tries to appeal to his humanity, when he has already shown he has NO HUMANTIY on multiple occasions during this tournament. Also, why wasn't the guy's skin dark when he was younger? What exactly is the cube sealing? Is getting power from outside sources NOT a commonly known thing? You'd think people in power would love to get their hands on such technology...or at least try to imitate and research it to increase the power of their armies. This story fucking blows.
