Definitely thought Hasegawa was gonna ask Houjou to get info about Rei out of Tohno. Causing Tohno to jump to the conclusion that Houjou really is just trying to get closer to Rei through Tohno.
At least I was hoping that it would play out like that. I want to see Tohno's suspicions at least semi-vindicated and he would feel genuinely betrayed. Then the ball would be in Houjou's court and she would have to really fight to earn Tohno's trust.
I feel like without a "betrayal" or event like that to make Tohno really believe Houjou is actually after Rei, the story is quickly cruising to an uneventful ending where Tohno realizes he likes Houjou and they get together - the end...

I'm all for giving people second chances but she was forgived way too easily.

Author, you can't have the MC being suspicious about all of the women approaching him for 7 chapters because he's afraid of being used again, and when it actually happens, he's just like" I'm too nice i'm gonna help her haha".

No, you just ruined the whole concept of your character...

The way he acted with the heroine until now make no senses at all...
Idk, I can see him forgiving Hasegawa that easily because he suspected her of just trying to use him in the first place and never actually considered her wanting to be friends. Kind of like a Nothing gained - nothing lost mentality.

The concept of his character wasn't him being an asshole. It was him being untrusting. In his eyes, it was obvious what she was doing and so when she was honest, it's not like he was hurt by the reveal. What would be the point in holding onto a grudge?

Also the reason he acts the way he does with Hojou is because she's not behaving the way he's come to expect and she's good at poking his buttons. He may not trust women, but he's still a teenage boy, a slave to his hormones

I like that for all of his justified insecurities, Tohno is still a good person. He doesn't hate women, he just doesn't trust them and he won't let that get in the way of interacting with them in a normal capacity. I get that Hasagawa planed on doing something he hated but what she actually did was just talk to him once and take out his share of the garbage.

The whole point of the plot is that he's too nice of a guy NOT to help out when someone's in trouble. He's too friendly, and always ends up letting people in, so it's easy to take advantage of him. He knows this, and tries very hard to cover for it but he can't just completely change his personality like that. There will be times when he sees someone in trouble and just can't bring himself not to help out. Also I think he did a pretty good job of trying to stay away from houjou, anyone else woulda gave up she's just extremely pushy. Plus he has definitely managed to stay away from most of the girls in his school so far, seeing as most of them have apparently tried to take advantage of him and it doesn't look like any have gotten too close to Rei.

'Yeah, I'm going to pretend to be friendly to him to get closer to his older brother, and then ditch him for the older brother.' That's such a dumb plan. If they're on good terms, and he's a good older brother — as was hinted a few chapters ago — and he finds out what you did to his little brother, what do you think is going to happen? He's going to chew you up for using his little brother. The saddest part is that this kind of thing happens in real life.

Hrm... well at least the air is cleared between them, and she seems supportive of the potential for the leads to get together and realizes that despite Youta being... iffy with girls he is still not completely cold on Houjou... probably also sees that Houjou is not like her and most of the other girls... I like it. It also made sense Youta didn't just straight up forgive her for her actions. Good progress and character development I think.

I agree, if I have such disdain for a person, I would never go out of my way to interact with them, let alone help them out

I agree, he's not supposed to be an asshole.

But it's not being an asshole to not help someone who was using you.

Because that's the thing: she was still using him.
He was hurt by the reveal, just that he's so used to it that it's not surprising for him anymore.
So he got all the reasons in the world to hold a grudge.
And even if he was not holding a grudge: why would he want to asociate himself with someone who was using him?

I mean, his whole character until now was "Girls try to get close to me to get close to my brother, not because they actual cares about me, so I won't trust any girl." It's because of that that he was fleeing the heroine at the start.
And the one time we see a girl actually using him... He's just like "No, it's no big deal, i'm used to it".

I'm sorry, but I don't think it's coherent.

Also the reason he acts the way he does with Hojou is because she's not behaving the way he's come to expect and she's good at poking his buttons. He may not trust women, but he's still a teenage boy, a slave to his hormones
I was not talking about his weird tsundere act and desire to trust the heroine. I was talking about the fact that he is extremly wary of her (well,he was way more suspicious in the begining, now he's warming up to her) and he had multiple moments where he was trying to ignore her because of the whole "She will use me too".

That's why i'm saying his reaction this chapter makes no sense:
A girl is trying to get close to him and seems to be interested in him, and only him? "No, it's a lie, I can't believe her".
Another girl reveal that she was trying to get close to him to use him? "Haha it's okay I knew it, now let me help you. Even better: let's be friend!"

I'm sorry but no: she got forgiven way too easily.

Aww I kinda root for her now so she'll become the annoying sister in law. I bet she's the type that will adore his brother's messy hair and find his lazy traits cute lol

Yeah you know her. Everyone has someoneline her. The type that chase after red flags and won't realize it until maybe 1 severe breakup or divorce lol

Still don't like her character, but hey, at least she's being honest this time.

Wholesome character development chapter.

23 pages without houjou is a fucking crime, but hey. At least this didn't turn into a love triangle which I'm super happy about.

Wasn't that explained in this chapter? You should probably reread this chapter
