I mean in this entire story, only one how has actual romantic feelings is Nanao and she had to settle for the FwB position more or less. Aside from her, NO ONE cares or even thinks about it so MC having a harem end would also feel out of place imo. She just LOVES sex (little addicted as well at this point but that's another matter entirely) no strings attached. Not once does she think about anything romance related. We have yet to see if she can manage a proper relationship.

But as others also pointed out, if she was normal, we wouldn't have this story since no one would try to fuck 300 girls to find one. You book one and ask them to relay a message. So any "plot" related thing in the story is there to prolong it so that Asumi can fuck more girls since at the end of the day, this is yuri smut.

Let me guess, when they finally meet Asumi showcased her newfound top knowledge to Mai and accidentally rile her up verbally, to which Mai says something like "I'm the older one" and goes back to be a top, so like domination loss in sense

sayaka trying to invert the positive and negative polarity flux in order to reverse the infinite equilibrium of bottomness that is asumi be like :

Sayaka knows this much bottom energy being transferred all at once could set ablaze the whole ozone layer or even worse ... derail the very space-time continuum of this universe, but this is the only way this could work ... thus Sayaka spoke these words "Now I am become raging lesbian ... maker of tops"

I think part of it is also just that Asumi has completely fucked up boundaries. And both love and lust both have a sexual component to them, so, for Asumi, I think she has got her emotions completely out of wack. I honestly think there could be a great story in that of Asumi trying to distinguish her emotions and who she truly loves.

Of course, I could just be completely off with this. I've never personally had fucked up boundaries like this (I'm reading yuri smut, do you think I've even had sex???), but it seems like a really natural progression for her character and the story. Especially given her response to Sayaka when asked if she likes her, given the fact that Asumi (probably) does not have any sort of romantic feelings for Sayaka.

At this stage I’m not even sure if Asumi actually HAS romantic feelings for anyone, or that she has compartmentalised sex as a recreational activity so much that she just doesn’t recognise her own feelings. Perhaps that’s the whole crux of the problem with both Mai and Asumi. Mai is confusing her professional pride with her feelings towards Asumi, and Asumi has spent so long having sex without progressing her goal of finding Mai that, once she has reached her goal, she has no idea what she wants now she’s found her. The only evidence that Mai is different is because she is still going slow with her, and sees the others as a scratch for her itches. Even Nanao (sorry shippers).

And have we all forgotten how Asumi is surprisingly good at topping? Where didnall THAT energy suddenly disappear to huh?

@UdenEmpati What about the Ethical Non-Monogamy route, instead of the Polycule route? A polycule assumes all the members share emotional intimacy. I think one thing this story is doing, is detaching Sex from Romance. Here, sex is an act of pleasure, not necessarily one of emotional intimacy. You can see it in all the girls working for the brothel. They like sex, they've all gotten to know (biblically! heh) Asumi and like her as a person. But none of them treat her like a partner. Sex is more like sharing a cake with friends than it is a lifelong commitment to a partner.

I think it's telling that immediately after her reunion date with Mai, Asumi books a date with Sayaka again. They talk about her situation with Mai, but neither assumes that they should stop hooking up. It feels like Asumi, even if she settles with Mai, or Nanao, will still want to have detached non-romantic sex with multiple partners. They could even both work at the brothel, call themselves a couple, but not blink an eye when they take jobs.

As to @dokidoki feeling like this is dragging out the plot, I agree that it's dragging out the plot point about looking for Mai. But it's only improving the plot point where Asumi has escapades with dozens of women. That tells me that reconnecting with Mai might have been the starting event that drove Asumi into the brothel world, but it's no longer her primary motivator. She likes the wholesome brothel service she found, and it's now the main theme.

I think it's interesting that this has more plot/character development than the average hentai, but it's not without the hentai magic that depicts sex because it wants to depict sex. Hentai often makes wild illogical leaps to get people naked. The term "Yaoi" for BL is shorthand for "yamanashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi" (no climax, no point, no meaning) after all. This one tries a little harder, and it raises questions about non-monogamy.
I would say that this would make sense if Asumi is deemed the only character who requires some form of "end point" for her story arc within the larger narrative. You are correct in every character she encounters at the brothels seeming to separate sex from any other non-physical form of attraction (romantic, emotional, things beyond "friends" effectively).
The two who do not fit into that category from what I can see, are Nanao and Mai, both of whom have feelings (or can be argued to have feelings if you don't want to make definitive statements) for Asumi directly, and both of whom have been effectively shut out by Asumi, though it should be stressed that she did not do this maliciously or mean-spirited reasons.

So if they both feel attracted to Asumi on an emotional/romantic level but Asumi at present is at minimum not thinking about romance or relationships that go beyond the physicality of no-strings sex with various partners, then the narrative needs to decide if Mai or Nanao (or both) decide to accept and adapt to Asumi's behavior and apparent wishes and shelve or ignore their feelings for her; if they "lose" and have to either accept that Asumi will see them as nothing more than sex friends, or depart from her life because they require something she cannot give them; or they try to effectively change Asumi's position and perspective on relationships to achieve something with her that goes beyond friends with benefits or the equivalent.

At the moment, Asumi is trying to (re)awaken her Inner Top to try and solve Mai's broken sex mojo. But she's doing it because Sayaka told her she hurt Mai, but said nothing about Mai's apparent feelings for Asumi.
(And that's fine; it's not necessarily Sayaka's place to divulge that information, but it does change the context of why Mai is "hurting" at the hands of Asumi - and if Asumi's solution is "sex with tons of Girls Who Aren't Mai to try and train herself to solve Mai's problem, and doesn't tell Mai why she's doing this, there's a chance that Mai misinterprets Asumi's actions and thinks she's fully forgotten Mai, even as she slept her way across Japan to find her. We don't see Sayaka explaining her plan to Mai before approaching Asumi, so I don't know if it's reasonable to infer Sayaka's passing relevant info back and forth between them to prevent something like this from occurring.)

Asumi is doing this to help Mai, but the question then becomes what happens after? Does she just go on treating Mai as her childhood friend? Does Mai finally speak up and confess her feelings for Asumi, and then we see whatever transpires from there? Does it even get that far, or do we see some sort of drama/fallout in the middle of her Training Arc if/when Mai gets wind of what's happening and doesn't take it the way Asumi intends it? What's Nanao doing this whole time, her feelings unreciprocated, especially now that Asumi's original target has been found?

Because the main character's lack of romantic inclination is in direct opposition to two major characters (one her "target" of the original plot), the question of how that is resolved needs to be addressed, which is why I was focusing on the relationship aspect in the first place, with the assumption that primary discrepency would be resolved in a manner that sees Mai and/or Nanao satisfied with a relationship with their love interest in Asumi in some manner beyond just sex - because they themselves appear to want something beyond just sex with Asumi.

If the goal isn't to have Asumi end up in any form of relationship that expands beyond sex, then Mai and Nanao's personal arcs remain unfulfilled, barring a change in their primary objectives and character aims. I don't know if that's a good thing, or if they're meant to matter in the face of Asumi's being the main character, but.

And yes, if Asumi does end up with either Mai or Nanao in a relationship (or both or whatever), then it's not like she can't still be visiting Sayaka and everyone else. I didn't touch on that at first because it wasn't the thing I was focusing on, but I wasn't making an exhaustive list of potential relationship outcomes when I made that other comment. But Mai and Nanao are exceptions to the rest of the non-MC characters, and thus their needs as they relate to Asumi and a resolution of the narrative seem to me to require specific attention that the others do not.

There might be lines I'm missing that see some sort of compromise or complete circumvention of the "issues" I laid out above, and I'm just too fatigued at the moment to fully see them or properly map them out. But that's where my brain's at for the moment, in terms of the plot (such as it is) for this series.
