Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing very well. First of all, Happy New Year.
Secondly, I’d like to talk about several things that have happened and that we hadn’t mentioned until now.
About 1–2 months ago, the cloud service where I, Danns, stored all of my work files —manga, novels, and general video or image editing for a store— deleted all of my data. At first, I thought I had been hacked or that something serious had happened, so I contacted support. Unfortunately, the support for this cloud service is very poor: if you don’t pay, they can take almost a week to reply, so I ended up paying.
When they finally replied, they explained that the deletion was supposedly due to inactivity. That made no sense, since I used that account every single day because I work as an editor for several stores and wouldn’t just stop working for three months. I explained this to them, checked the email linked to the account for any deletion notices, and found nothing. After contacting them again, they told me to use a feature called “Rewind”, which is still in beta.
I tried it, but it only recovered about 1% of my files. That means I lost a huge amount of data, both work-related and manga files. I even lost a new project I was developing for the store I work with. Thankfully, I had previously sent a progress photo of that project, so I was able to use it as a base to rebuild it. Still, this situation affected everything significantly.
I’m explaining all of this to clarify why there were no updates, especially in December, which was the month when I most wanted to push updates and catch the series up to Chapter 112.
So, what are we going to do from here?
The chapters that had already been proofread but whose editable PSD files were deleted will be re-edited somehow —either starting from scratch or by locating the cleans and redraws and replacing only the pages that have specific errors.
If you’re wondering how we even have this chapter if everything was lost, I had to ask the Enhancer for help to figure something out. The solution we came up with was to download the already enhanced version of the chapter that he still had on his PC. He usually deletes files, but luckily he had kept some chapters. This issue didn’t only affect Youjo Senki, but also other series we’re working on.
I apologize for the length of this message; I wanted to properly explain the situation. I also want to let you know that we’ll soon be uploading chapters up to Chapter 112, and gradually re-editing things if any errors are found. That’s also why we truly appreciate anyone who wants to help with proofreading. There’s no need to edit or redraw anything —I’ll take care of that, since I’m the one who lost the files due to a cloud service that simply didn’t work as it should.
