more accurately character in fate (as it is with every fate characters) is a wild bastardisation of a fictional character of medieval europe, there this char is a paladin of Charlemagne (who is king of Franks) and son of "England King Otto" who might be Offa of Mercia, so in a way that Astolfo was "french" and was definitely not a trap
