The MangaDex going legal is a total fake news from someone's speculation. The only thing that happened was MangaDex going under NamiComi but that happened months ago, besides there is no announcement about it anywhere.
I stumbled on post about it on Reddit and it only required a few minutes of research to see that it's not true and amount of people who took his word for it and started badmouthing MangaDex is tremendous.

But that's all my own opinion based on my research so i may be wrong.

The only problem i have with it is that a lot of people were badmouthing MangaDex for something that didn't even happen, but i guess my bad for getting mad at random people on the internet

There's still real concern though that mangadex's admin might just delete chapter releases when any publisher feels like it. You might still want backup option open aside from MD.
