It's been communicated poorly, but the new "social-style" comment system is only temporarily "supporters only" while it's being tested out. The site's considering transitioning per-chapter and per-title comments to this new system while relegating the current forums to just off-topic and general discussion.*No thanks to the weird changes made to the forums, I may post a lot less than normal (mainly because the 'supporters' get priority, lol). :/
The thing is that it's VERY annoying if you clicked 'Comment' and it opens up the chapter page(s) you aren't even trying to read, especially when it caused it to be marked as 'Read'. It's just an extra step that you need to go back to the titles page and unmark that chapter as 'Unread'. The good 'ole straight to the forum as another page upon clicking the 'Comment' is better than this...It's been communicated poorly, but the new "social-style" comment system is only temporarily "supporters only" while it's being tested out. If this is something you're opposed to, even if it were to become public, I'd recommend continuing to use the forums at the same rate you have been (or higher) so as to try and communicate that you prefer this system to the new one, especially once the new system gets a public release.
If the new update makes people use the forums less, then they'll take that as evidence that they made the right decision, which isn't really something you want to communicate if you prefer the old system.
Considering one is currently free and one isn't I don't see myself switching. Also the comments on the main site feel cramped because they've forced them onto the slide-out menu instead of having them be on a separate page or below the chapter like other sitesIt's been communicated poorly, but the new "social-style" comment system is only temporarily "supporters only" while it's being tested out.
