Bro because its hard to write female protagonist , emotional and their thinking that why majority shuojo manga written by female. and male protagonist always straight forward (so basically author cheating (create female main character but have straight forward personality like men))Sometimes I wonder if there was even a point making the protagonist a reincarnated character, much less a genderbent one.
Reisu strikes me as a with fulfillment character for the author, as in, “man, I wish that was me” kind of vibes. Though, as of right now, the gender bending is completely unnecessary.Sometimes I wonder if there was even a point making the protagonist a reincarnated character, much less a genderbent one.
Bro what?? That's such a stupid sexist comment???Bro because its hard to write female protagonist , emotional and their thinking that why majority shuojo manga written by female. and male protagonist always straight forward (so basically author cheating (create female main character but have straight forward personality l
There seems to be absolutely no reason for the gender bent lol. Usually I see it when author wanna write Yuri or just an absence of romance in the story. Through you can absolutely write both while still being a girl inside. But apparently lots of people don't think that's possible lolSometimes I wonder if there was even a point making the protagonist a reincarnated character, much less a genderbent one.
I'm reminded of that movie quote with Jack Nicholson. "How do you write women so well? Easy, write a man and remove all sense and reason."Bro because its hard to write female protagonist , emotional and their thinking that why majority shuojo manga written by female. and male protagonist always straight forward (so basically author cheating (create female main character but have straight forward personality like men))

But anyway the reason is probably 2 fold. The Isekai aspect makes it much easier to create someone with familiar knowledge and cultural base to interact with the foreign fantasy world the author creates as well as acts as an excuse to justify certain decisions or innovations that wouldn't make sense in a vacuum in universe. Without the Isekai aspect it's harder to justify why the MC decides to trust the humans, how they know and expect the things they do that would allow them to integrate into society outside the plateu, and a reason to really act the way she did in looking out for the chicks since she'd only really naturally care about survival rather than improved living conditions and socialization. For the Genderbend, it offers a mild comedy angle that can get played pretty often, gives a small justification for yuri antics, makes writing the character simpler as pointed out above where they can be much more straightforward without it seeming particularly odd or becoming a major personality trait, and it creates a bit more friction in how the character interacts with the world and is perceived due to the contrast between a male personality and an obviously female body.
Reincarnation makes sense since otherwise Reisu wouldn't be civilized. The little ones didn't even speak till Reisu started talking to them iircSometimes I wonder if there was even a point making the protagonist a reincarnated character, much less a genderbent one.
I suppose making Reisu inherit memories from an ancient sage would write very differently from an isekai character like she is now. Thank you for the insight. But anyway the reason is probably 2 fold. It's also a hook, can't ignore that. I'm sure for many people the GB aspect was part of what sparked enough curiosity to actually check it out. I know I occasionally search the tag for amusing comedies.Reincarnation makes sense since otherwise Reisu wouldn't be civilized. The gender thing really doesn't make a difference (so far), but it adds another thing the writer can mine later if they want
It's because there's a lot a differences both in the author trying to understand a character of a different gender but also in judging and managing the audience's perceptions of the character based on their actions and traits. There's very different ways people interpret actions and personality traits between male and female characters, there's also a lot of aspects and personality traits that denote a female character that are absent in male characters and vice versa. Its' possible to do that but it's extra work on the author's side to deal with, it makes it easier to say "Was originally male" so they can skip the hassle, get some extra joke material, and paste in a more familiar expected background to the audience while giving them immediate and unquestioned access to more traits and interests they could be familiar without needed to worry about explainations. A girl who likes sports and finds collecting bugs as cool is seen as a tomboy and thus the audience would start forming expectations of them to continue acting as such, a boy who played sports and collected bugs is just a generic boy so you can do other things with their personality and interests. All this talk about how hard it is to write a female character just tells me that some of the people in this comment section have never read josei in their life. There is lots of wonderfully written female characters with emotional depth while also having straight forward attitudes, they just aren't found in shoujo. Shoujo are written specifically for teenage girls who are hormonal balls of emotional volcanism where the guy they like not noticing them as they pass by each other in the hallway is the end of the world because he fucking hates her and doesn't want to associate with her (that's literally not what happened but that's how the FMC perceives it)
