Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I think the new girl is jot joining the Izumibowl but rather is trying to make her lady give up. Nanao quickly realized it and it's joining forces with her so she can get rid of her competitors, without necessarily being involved in anything else.

I'm with you. The story is still fun, but I feel like it's lost the magic it had at the start with all these plot twists and hidden schemes.

Nanao should've stayed the honest, ordinary girl she was, instead of turning overly perceptive and scheming. And Izumi should have kept that try hard, cool loser energy rather than becoming a bog-standard rom-com lead with zero presence.
