    Now that I think about it, would Grave of the Fireflies even exist in this scenario? And wouldn't east Asian be more peaceful?

    They would still have invaded their neighbours, the difference is that they wouldn't have attacked Pearl Harbor and either finished the war with the occupied territories they had (or more) or the Allies would have dealt with them later.
