It is very likely that the usage of he/him vs she/her is entirely the interpretation of the translator given that Japanese often doesn't use pronouns (and when they do, they aren't as strongly gendered).

@mochi These are good reasons why blood related marriage is forbidden. Children from blood-related are way more likely to get rare recessive genetic diseases.
