I think it's more of being feared to people, even his party members. sure he could be the strongest (which was implied that wasn't his goal), but he would be ostracised, treated like a monster, he would be alone.
I just realised that throughout the entire manga, they have never actually said the mc's name, they just say Class rep. so we don't actually know if the last page is his actual name.
